Books, art and local makers are taking over Old Town!
The Alexandria Book + Craft Festival is returning Sunday, Oct. 11 — bringing authors and artists together for a free day of books, handmade finds, food and early holiday shopping right in the heart of Old Town.
And there’s more to this festival than browsing tables.
It’s a collaboration between two homegrown Alexandria creative forces — Elaine’s Literary Salon and Made in ALX — each with an interesting story of its own. One has become a gathering place for writers and readers; the other grew from a pandemic-era idea into a permanent showcase for Alexandria-area artists and makers.
So who’s behind it? How did these two Alexandria organizations come together? And why has the festival already filled all of its author spaces?
The Zebra Press tells that story — plus where to go, what you’ll find, what’s still available for participating artists and how to make a full Old Town day of it.
