Six Flags Great Adventure is excited to celebrate the season during Holiday in the Park on weekends and select dates through January 1st, 2025. Plus, guests can hop on some of its famous maximum thrill speed rides as well as family-friendly mini coasters.

This year, Holiday in the Park introduced new live entertainment from Treeditions, a heartwarming live concert by a family of musicians sharing cherished holiday memories, as well as performances from The Jinglettes, a powerhouse trio singing holiday classics. Two new Holiday Magic light shows — A Celebration of the Season and A Holiday Wish List — have been added to the iconic five-story tree at the center of Main Street. Guests can catch the Holiday Magic light shows every 30 minutes.

Thrillseekers can take on a limited selection of coasters during Holiday in the Park. Fan favorites including Nitro, The Joker, Jersey Devil Coaster, Batman The Ride, and Wonder Woman Lasso of Truth are open throughout January. Mild-thrill level rides such as Skull Mountain, Harley Quinn Crazy Train, and the Buccaneer are also open for those who are not a fan of heights and or crazy high speeds.

A Holiday in the Park experience wouldn’t be complete without indulging in the park’s decadent and festive holiday treats, which include, but are not limited to, hot cocoa, s’mores, peppermint fudge, candy apples, fried Oreos, and funnel cake. Six Flags has a collectible 2024 hot chocolate mug available for purchase that comes with free refills during the first Holiday in the Park visit and then discounted on return visits through the end of the year. Guests can enjoy nostalgic comfort foods like glazed ham, turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and pies at Granny’s Holiday Feast or indulge in savory dishes such as stout pot roast and cheddar mac and cheese at the Central Brewhouse. Those who are 21+ can grab spiked eggnog, holiday-inspired cocktails, and seasonal beers at the Ale House.

Staying warm is key to enjoying Holiday in the Park to the fullest. Besides wearing a few layers of cozy clothing and temperature-appropriate outerwear (JSG also recommends hand warmers but maybe we are a little dramatic), there are plenty of opportunities to escape the cold while adventuring around the park. Guests are welcome to gather around one of the Holiday Fire Pits to warm up and roast marshmallows to make s’mores. S’mores kits are available for purchase in the North Pole area of the park. Temperatures are warm inside all of the indoor rides, such as Skull Mountain, Justice League: Battle For Metropolis, The Dark Knight Coaster, and Houdini’s Great Escape, as well as inside the gift shops, arcades, and dining halls.

Guests can also enjoy traditional Holiday experiences — such as photos with Santa, storytime with Mrs. Claus, and meeting festive North Pole friends like the Poinsettia Prince and Princess and Stewie The Snowman — all over the theme park. Visitors can stroll along a glowing pathway where trees dance in sync with festive holiday music during the Jolly Light Show or join in on the Deck The Halls dance party at Bugs Bunny National Park. A full map of attractions and event times can be found on the Holiday in the Park website.

About Six Flags

The famous Jersey Shore-area theme park and resort — which celebrated its 50th Anniversary in 2024 — boasts four world-class attractions on its Jackson, New Jersey property with Six Flags Great Adventure, Hurricane Harbor, Wild Safari, and the Savannah Sunset Resort and Spa. Six Flags Great Adventure is the ultimate thrill park with award-winning rides like Nitro, El Toro, and the Jersey Devil Coaster. The park has family rides, entertainment, shopping, and a wide variety of dining options. Its Wild Safari is one of the largest safaris outside of Africa and gets guests up close to more than 1,200 animals from around the globe. Six Flags Hurricane Harbor is known as one of the largest waterparks in the Northeast with more than 25 attractions for the whole family. The Savannah Sunset Resort and Spa, which opened in June 2024, is an overnight oasis that provides exclusive panoramic views within the 350-acre Wild Safari and grants guests full access to the Six Flags resort property during their stay.

Six Flags Great Adventure recently confirmed the retirement of two of its most iconic coasters: Kingda Ka and Green Lantern. Kingda Ka — which has delivered more than 12 million rides since opening in 2005 — was ranked as the world’s fastest rollercoaster until it was dethroned in 2010 by Formula Rossa located at Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Kingda Ka has also held the title of tallest rollercoaster in the world — at 456 feet high — but it will soon be topped by the forthcoming Falcon’s Flight at Six Flags Qiddiya in Saudi Arabia, which is currently under construction. Six Flags Great Adventure’s rides’ retirements, in addition to the removal of The Sky Way, The Twister, and Parachutes, make way for a new signature attraction — a multi-record-breaking launch coaster called THE FLASH: Vertical Velocity — which is set to debut at the Jackson theme park in 2026. Great Adventure’s newly announced, multi-year expansion plans will bring record-breaking thrill rides, revitalized family experiences, elevated dining, expanded events, and continuous enhancements across the property.

“We understand that saying goodbye to beloved rides can be difficult, and we appreciate our guests’ passion,” park president Brian Bacica stated in a press release. “These changes are an important part of our growth and dedication to delivering exceptional new experiences. We look forward to sharing more details next summer.”
