Asbury Park Jazz Fest Returns, New Ice Cream Shop, + More News You Missed at the Jersey Shore

The summer solstice on June 21st marked the meterological beginning of summer, but we’ve been riding the vibes for a while now. While you’ve been busy enjoying all that the Jersey Shore has to offer, we’ve been rounding up all the headlines to keep you up to speed. Among the highlights: plans to run a Seastreak Ferry between NYC + Point Pleasant were voted down; several new coffee shops, cafes + ice cream shops have opened; and a film studio announced plans to open in Long Branch.

– Pack up the car. SeaStreak’s planned ferry route between Point Pleasant Beach and New York City has been canceled, ending the proposed summer transit option before launch (The Jersey Shore Girl).

– Never enough pizza. Qua Pizza is expanding from Manasquan to Asbury Park, bringing its pies and Italian eats to a second Jersey Shore location (The Jersey Shore Girl).

– Time to dine. Dune Coastal Cuisine is opening later this summer in Ortley Beach (The Jersey Shore Girl).

– After a decade away, the Asbury Park Jazz Fest will return on June 28th (The Jersey Shore Girl). 

Beach Haven opened its first inclusive playground, adding a more accessible recreation space for children and families (AOL).

An Ocean County student’s death has sparked a renewed push for road safety improvements (Jersey Shore Online).

– GMWM (get margaritas with me). Alix Earle’s appearance at Jenk’s in support of her SipMARGS drink drew big crowds (@dianausa via TikTok).

-Speaking of the Earles, the family’s ice cream shop, Surfside Frozen Custard, is relocating to Manasquan (NJ.com).

Several RVs were destroyed in a massive blaze at an Ocean County campground (Jersey Shore Online).

– Pride month festivities continue! Barnegat Pride Festival drew a large crowd and highlighted year-round support for the LGBTQ+ community (Jersey Shore Online).

Seaside Heights is working to preserve its history through a museum project highlighting the borough’s past and boardwalk legacy (Asbury Park Press).

– Belmar runs on Dunkin’. The Belmar location of Dunkin’ Donuts reopened this weekend with a block party and giveaways (@walklikealocalnj via TikTok).

– New coffee shop, Get Roasted, opened in Shipbottom on LBI (@madisonlhawkins via TikTok).

– ‘Twas a star-studded weekend. Post Malone headlined the 2026 Barefoot Country Music Fest on the beach in Wildwood, and fans showed out for the Texas native (@stephtontour via TikTok)

 -One of our favorite traditions! The annual Lavallette Food Truck Fest returned on Saturday, June 20th, with a delicious lineup of local vendors (via @TheJerseyShoreGirl events guide).
