So, Is Netflix Filming a New Reality Show at the Jersey Shore? Here’s What We Know

We all know Jersey Shore: Snooki, JWoww, Pauly D, The Situation, GTL, fist-pumping, + an entire generation learning exactly what a “Shore house” was. Now, another group of New Jersey friends is getting the reality TV treatment, and filming is already underway down the Shore. The Leftovers, a new reality series from one of the people behind the original Jersey Shore, is currently in development. Read on for everything we know so far.

About Netflix’s The Leftovers

According to Deadline, Netflix is developing a new ensemble reality series with the working title The Leftovers. The show comes from SallyAnn Salsano + her production company, 495 Productions, which is the same team behind Jersey Shore. The series will follow a group of New Jersey friends as they navigate adulthood. Deadline reported in July 2026 that the series was in “active and ongoing development” at Netflix, with plans to film throughout New Jersey.

Is This the Next Jersey Shore?

That remains to be seen, but the comparisons are inevitable. The original Jersey Shore premiered on MTV in 2009 and followed eight housemates living, working, dating, partying, + occasionally fighting their way through a summer at the Shore. The show ran for six seasons and became a pop culture phenomenon, eventually spawning multiple spinoffs and the 2018 revival Jersey Shore Family Vacation. So yes, The Leftovers has some very large shoes to fill.

What We Know About The Leftovers So Far

There is still plenty we don’t know about The Leftovers, including the full cast, an official release date, + whether the finished series will actually feel anything like Jersey Shore. What we do know is that a group of lifelong New Jersey friends is getting its own reality show, cameras have been spotted down the Shore, + the producer who helped turn Seaside Heights into reality TV history is back behind another Garden State series. We’ll be keeping an eye out for more details as filming continues.
