Jersey Shore locals are starting new businesses, finding fossils, and more. It’s been another busy week DTS and we’ve got all the headlines to get you up to speed. Among the highlights: a Hawaiian coffee shop opens in Wall; Ocean City is using trained birds of prey to deter seagulls; and the Seaside Park Police Department has added a K-9 officer to its ranks, but not for the reasons you’re thinking.

-Aloha spirit in the Garden State. Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii has opened its first Jersey Shore location at 1825 Route 35 in Wall Township, serving Hawaiian-sourced coffee, specialty drinks, breakfast, lunch, and sweet treats (The Jersey Shore Girl).
–Asbury Park music and media company APV Media is opening a new beach-themed retail space at 716 Cookman Avenue to support its events, content production, and work with emerging artists (The Jersey Shore Girl).
-GRWM. New Jersey native Alix Earle’s new Netflix reality series Earle Meets World premieres September 4th and will follow her family, friendships, career, and Jersey Shore roots (The Jersey Shore Girl).
–The team behind Birravino and Undici is opening Rallo Alimentari & Focacceria, an all-day Italian café and restaurant, at 187 Riverside Avenue in Red Bank in 2027 (The Jersey Shore Girl).
–The NJEDA approved up to $75 million in tax credits toward a $130 million restoration of Asbury Park’s Convention Hall, Paramount Theater, and Grand Arcade into a year-round performing arts complex (City of Asbury Park).
–Rosalita’s Roadside Cantina in Marlboro has permanently closed after 13 years in business (Patch).
–Birds of prey. Ocean City continues using trained falcons, hawks, and an owl to patrol its boardwalk and deter aggressive seagulls from stealing food and bothering visitors (Outside).
-Welcome, Officer Blue. The Seaside Park Police Department has welcomed Blue, a three-month-old French bulldog serving as its official “Chief Happiness Officer” at events and around headquarters (News 12 New Jersey).
–Bay Head is cracking down on drone-assisted shark fishing, with police warning that state law prohibits using drones to carry or drop bait, hooks, or fishing lines to help catch wildlife (New Jersey 101.5).
-One slice or two? New pizza spot Pollara has opened at 76 Monmouth Street in Red Bank (@megthings via Instagram).
–New Jersey has formally recognized roughly 3,000 open-water lifeguards as first responders and emergency response providers, acknowledging their lifesaving and emergency-response duties (NorthJersey.com).
-Once-in-a-lifetime find. A father and his 11-year-old son discovered a rare, millions-of-years-old megalodon tooth while searching for shells on the beach in Sea Isle City (NBC News).
–Seaside Park has sued Berkeley Township seeking property tax revenue collected from South Seaside Park residents after the neighborhood officially left Berkeley and joined Seaside Park earlier this year (Asbury Park Press).
– Can’t stop at one. A nationwide survey of Americans determined that New Jerseyians pick saltwater taffy as the food that tastes most like summer (AMFM Healthcare).
– We’ll stick to the sand. Swimming advisories were issued at 12 Jersey Shore ocean beaches, including 10 in Atlantic City and two in Long Branch, after testing found elevated levels of fecal indicator bacteria (NJ.com).
