Going down the shore is a welcome escape for many Jersey residents, but stepping through the threshold of Tina’s This and That, a mystical, magical, family-owned and-operated witch shop, feels like entering a completely new world. Think crystals, candles, tarot decks, and spell supplies around every corner. The Jersey Shore Girl stopped by and spoke with owner Amber Demola to learn more about the magic being brought to the community. Part of what made our visit especially exciting was the recent unveiling of the shop’s newest addition: Petal and Potion, a full-service coffee and tea bar, located inside the store. Read on to learn more about Tina’s This and That, located at 1749 Hooper Avenue in Toms River, a go-to metaphysical destination for all levels of interest, from practicing witches to first-time visitors.
All About The Shop
When Tina’s This and That opened 13 years ago, the goal was simple: bring a little magic and a fresh concept to the area. Now, it’s grown into what Amber, current owner and daughter of the store’s founder, calls “a magic hub for the community.”
Lined wall-to-wall with magical finds, the shop offers an immersive experience while still maintaining a warm, welcoming feel. Knowledgeable staff is always on hand to guide visitors, whether they’re simply taking in the scents of dried herbs and incense or searching for their next tarot deck. It’s a one-stop destination for both newcomers and seasoned practitioners alike.

In a gorgeous back room, guests will find a full apothecary with over 200 dried herbs lining sleek black cabinetry. There is even a thoughtfully curated, handmade apothecary book to help customers understand each herb’s uses and how to incorporate them into personal rituals and spells.
Opening of Petal and Potion
Opened earlier this year, the shop’s latest addition is Petal and Potion, a full-service coffee and tea bar, tucked into the back corner of the store. Inspired by the way customers were already experiencing the space, Amber noticed visitors bringing their own drinks and lingering, naturally turning their visit into an activity. From there, she saw an opportunity to elevate the experience with thoughtfully crafted beverages of her own.
“A lot of people sip and shop, and I wanted that to be my own drink, added to all of Tina’s magic,” Amber shared.
We sampled a few customer-favorites (when down the shore, iced of course), including the Cherry Passion Vanilla Matcha, the Green Goddess (a butterfly pea milk matcha), and the Midnight Lavender, a rich dark chocolate and lavender latte. One of the most eye-catching drinks was the Whimsy, a lavender-jasmine-pineapple herbal tea with blue lotus, topped with a splash of lemonade, that creates a sparkling purple hue.
Amber shared that the team is always welcoming customer recommendations, allowing the seasonal menu to evolve with new brews, or “potions,” throughout the year.
The freshly made matcha was a standout favorite, and guests can also enjoy a selection of gluten-free and vegan treats, including raspberry cookies and chocolate cake slices. Since opening, customers have been making a beeline to the back of the store to start their mornings with one of these signature drinks.
The Witch at The End of the Lane
Emily Brehme, a shift lead and familiar face behind the counter, emphasized that Tina’s This and That is rooted in inclusivity and community connection.
“A big part of my job is helping others through everything,” she said. “We see people from all walks of life. Our manager likes to say we’re the witch at the end of the lane. Everyone comes for help, and there’s nothing we love more to do.”
That sense of community is woven into every part of the shop. Most recently, the team introduced what they’ve called the state’s “first witchy trinket trade,” encouraging customers to leave behind a small trinket, charm, or oddity and take one with them. It’s a simple way to foster connection and shared energy among visitors. We loved this whole experience so much that we will definitely be back to join in soon. It’s this openness that keeps customers coming back. Whether stopping in for guidance, browsing the shelves, or sipping on a handcrafted potion, Tina’s This and That has created a space where curiosity is welcomed and community comes first.
