Fairfax County resident Kimberly Evering has a double life. By day, she’s your average government employee. But in her other life as the founder of Rock n Flow Yoga, Kimberly is a yoga teacher driven by music and making connections. Even her business motto, “Fun vibes for you and your tribe,” reflects that. Read on for more about Kimberly and her special offerings.

About Kimberly
Kimberly Evering grew up in Buffalo, New York, and made her way to the DC area in 1995. She has an undergraduate degree from Buffalo State University and a Master’s in Digital Media from American University.
Before landing in DC, Kimberly was a DJ, a journalist, and a writer, with her blog Gal on the Go. She grew up dancing, and the combination of music, movement, and exploration has always been at the core of her personality. While developing her career as an editor, Kimberly picked up yoga and deepened her practice by traveling to different studios locally and around the country to experience different teachers and settings.
“I used to travel all over the US and Canada, taking classes everywhere I went. I soaked it up like a sponge,” Kimberly said. “At the time, I didn’t know what it was doing for me. I was just into learning from different teachers and learning the different styles. Going in as both a participant and a student to gain knowledge from those different places.”
In 2017, Kimberly went through a yoga teacher training course at her local Corepower Yoga studio and began substitute teaching in 2018. In 2019, she officially founded Rock’N’Flow Yoga. At the core of the business is Kimberly’s philosophy about making special moments in the class setting. “I wanted to set myself apart from everyone else. In addition to incorporating mainstream music, I wanted to incorporate experiences,” Kimberly said. “I lost a lot of people in my life due to illness. I want to embrace life and make things memorable. I want to do experiences that welcome people of all levels. We go outdoors, indoors, etc. It’s about community and letting yourself let go and be in the moment.”
About Rock’n’Flow
RNF got off to a stellar start: Kimberly was the first teacher permitted to teach on the Mall in front of the Lincoln Memorial. “I knew about Airbnb experiences and thought that would be a good way to get the word out [about RNF],” she said. “I thought the Lincoln Memorial would be a cool place. I researched what permits were needed and got them. I was the first person to teach there.” Kimberly said that the public setting of the class and the inviting nature of the practice meant that tourists and onlookers would take pictures or even join in.
“The more the merrier,” Kimberly said. Over time, she added more classes in different locations, including the famous Key West Pier, which drew a similar reaction from onlookers. “Seeing other people join in has been one of my favorite and most unexpected things,” she said. “The fact that they feel welcome enough to join, and it’s fun enough for them to want to join in.”

Kimberly’s other certifications in sound healing and stand-up paddleboard yoga mean her classes can take place on land or on water. “I reach out to a lot of venues or event organizers to see about teaching there,” she said. “I’ve had some really fun relationships develop because of that.” In particular, Kimberly loves teaching with Doggy Noses and Yoga Poses. “People love it, and the puppies are so cute,” she said. “The puppies taught me how to let go and have fun as I’m teaching rather than being scared and taking it so seriously. I take teaching seriously out of respect for the practice, but it’s yoga. It’s meant to be fun.”

She also loves working with clients on private events for various celebrations, often birthday parties or a bridal celebration. “I love that it’s a group of people getting together to share something that they love,” she said. “Not all people are into yoga at the same level. Some people are brand new to yoga, and I love that mix of mentality and experience.”
“And you’re doing something as a group that’s joyful. Not as dangerous as something focused on drinking,” Kimberly said. People responded, and she started tailoring her offerings to that. “A zen, private session the morning of the wedding to chill you out. People can even gift these private sessions to their friends and family. That’s a beautiful thing to give someone – a gift of wellness and joy.”

Upon reflection, Kimberly says that her travels when she was starting her yoga practice helped her cherry-pick what she wanted to offer as an instructor. “I had no idea how much it would come into play in shaping my business,” she said. “I know what I do or don’t like. This style of teaching, this pose, and the way it was interpreted by this teacher, and that observation became something that it was never meant to be initially.”
What to Expect
“The biggest compliment to me with RNF is when people share how they felt, and it’s an experience I can relate to. Things like, ‘I never thought I could do this, thank you!’” she said. “We do a doggy class with GMU students before finals to help them de-stress. Students will say, ‘That was a great first yoga class, I never knew that that’s what it could be like, I didn’t think I could do yoga’ – that makes my heart explode. It’s all I could ask for,” Kimberly said.

Kimberly teaches around the Northern Virginia area and at various yoga and wellness festivals throughout the United States. She teaches five to eight classes weekly plus special events. “Winter is a lot more workshops, and then spring and summer are classes to work on what we’ve learned,” she said. “Summer is a big time for festivals and special events, a lot of outdoor events are during that time.”
Kimberly teaches regular Zen classes on Sundays in Reston and will have a fall sound bath series in Herndon. Her calendar is frequently updated with special events, such as a November 29th sound bath at the Washington Monument. Her three core workshops are: Building Your Confidence: Foundational Poses for Every Yogi©; Elevating Your Practice: From Effort to Ease With Blocks©; and Tuning Out the Word + Tuning Into You: Rediscover Your Peace©.

As far as private events, Kimberly loves working with clients to create the day of their dreams. “Providing people with an experience that is so different based on the people, the music they want, and the location,” she said. “It’s never going to be a duplicate.” Kimberly says her dream class would be a combination of a bucket-list travel destination and a dream list of class participants. “I have loved tree houses ever since I was a little girl. I think they’re magical; so Buahan (a treehouse resort in Indonesia) with my clients aka warrior crew,” she said. “Lady Gaga or P!nk because their music and lyrics have been very influential through the highs and lows in my life over the years. It would be a silent disco yoga flow unlike any other!”
Kimberly is working on advanced training. ” I’m currently taking a 300-hour teacher training with Yoga Farm Ithaca. I will graduate in April 2026 with a certification as a Spiritual Warrior in Trauma-Informed Kundalini and be a 500-level teacher with my combined years of training,” she said.
