For anyone whose ideal roommate enjoys sunny windows, afternoon naps, + quietly keeping you company, Mama Darcy might be the perfect match. The 2-year-old domestic shorthair is currently available for adoption through the Lost Dog & Cat Rescue Foundation and is looking for a calm Northern Virginia home to call her own. Mama Darcy is litterbox trained and moonlights as a TSA agent to inspect any packages coming into the home. Read on for more about Mama Darcy and the adoption process.
Meet Mama Darcy
Mama Darcy is described by her foster family as sweet, independent, + an expert bird-watcher. Some of her favorite places to relax include a sunny armchair and a crochet blanket on the couch, making her an excellent companion for anyone who appreciates a cozy afternoon at home. She isn’t necessarily a lap cat, but Mama Darcy does enjoy being close to her humans and getting pets in the evening. She was initially shy after arriving at her foster home, but has gradually become more comfortable and shown more of her personality.
And, like any good friendship, treats certainly help. Crunchy snacks may even earn her new humans a few affectionate headbutts.
Because Mama Darcy is more reserved, the rescue says she would do best in a patient, quieter household with adults or older children. A home with young children is not recommended. She has previously lived with another cat without any issues, so a feline roommate could potentially be part of the equation, too.
Mama Darcy is also a solid option for someone who works outside of the house during the day. According to the rescue, typical 9AM-to-5PM working hours happen to line up pretty well with her preferred sleeping schedule. When she is awake, Mama Darcy likes wand toys, chasing balls around the floor, investigating new additions to the house, + of course, keeping tabs on whatever is happening outside the nearest window. She also has excellent litter box manners.
