Bees & Teas | 1201 South Joyce Street, Arlington

R2P Physical Therapy

Located at Westpost in Arlington, Bees & Teas is known for boba drinks, soft serve, taiyaki, + savory bites. Its pumpkin spice boba brings one of the season’s most recognizable flavors to a bubble tea, which is refreshing but still in season on those strangely hot days we’ve had.

Bobby’s Bagel Café | 2571 John Milton Drive, Herndon

pumpkin bagel

It’s not a holiday until you’ve gotten a specially shaped or colored bagel from Bobby’s Bagel Cafe. The insta-famous spot also has pumpkin cream cheese to make things ultra-fall.

Good Company Doughnuts & Café is a veteran- and family-owned spot known for its handmade doughnuts, and its seasonal flavors are especially worth a stop this time of year. This doughnut is a sophisticated iteration of the breakfast treat with a caramel apple twist – basically two desserts in one.

Heidelberg Pastry Shoppe | 2150 North Culpeper Street, Arlington

A trip to the Heidelberg is always a good idea, especially so in the fall. This German bakery serves all kinds of sausages + wursts for lunch during October. We like the almond pretzel – it’s a flaky Danish with tons of rich almond flavors, and we can confirm it goes great with a big cup of coffee.

Mackenzie’s Tunes & Tonics | 3950 University Drive, Suite 210, Fairfax

mackenzies old fashioned

The rubber duckies on the bar scream silly, but the cocktails at Mackenzie’s are serious business. This is a great spot to visit when you’re not sure what you’re in the mood for – there’s live music most nights, and always a great vibe.  Mack’s Old Fashioned is made with bourbon + an in-house orange simple syrup, creating the kind of warming bev that feels like a must when the temps drop.

Sunday Morning Bakehouse | 1796 Chain Bridge Road, McLean

Sunday Morning Bakehouse’s McLean shop is filled with handmade croissants, bread, + pastries, and the current menu is packed with fall flavors. The apple pie tart puts one of the season’s quintessential desserts into pastry form. The SMB team switches things up regularly, so it’s worth checking that your desired pastry is available. And, it means we can’t wait to see what else they come up with.

Voodoo Brewing Co. | 2315 Dulles Station Boulevard, Herndon

voodoo lacto

The Lacto-Kooler from Voodoo Brewing in Herndon looks like the grown-up version of the Hi-C Ecto Cooler that many millennials remember from their lunchbox days. The grown-up version of this drink is a 5.5% ABV Berliner Weisse-style sour ale with a Halloween-ready color. Fun fact: the beer has even been served as the official beer of Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando.
