McLean has a new spot for shoppers who love designer fashion, one-of-a-kind finds, and giving great pieces a second life. Again Boutiques is an upscale consignment boutique owned by Trish Anderson. It opened in McLean in April 2026 with a focus on high-quality clothing, accessories, and a more thoughtful approach to shopping. Read on for more about Again Boutiques and why shopping sustainably is always chic.

Inspiration Strikes

Trish Anderson was inspired to open Again Boutiques by her grandmother’s Gucci purse. “It’s from the 1960s and it’s in great condition,” she said.  Its longevity comes down to the quality of its materials and craftsmanship, Trish said, including strong leather, classic style and stitching built to last.

“That’s exactly what the inspiration was for Again,” she said. “Buy quality versus quantity, and you’ll keep it forever.” Trish realized her own personal experience with secondhand shopping. “I have been consigning my items for probably about 20 plus years,” she told The Fairfax Girl. She became increasingly conscious of overconsumption and the amount of clothing constantly being bought, discarded, and replaced. Eventually, the idea of combining her love of fashion with resale and sustainability felt like a natural next chapter.

Tricia owned several businesses. After retiring from those ventures, it was time for her hobby job and reselling vision to come alive. “I love fashion. I love reselling, and also just the idea of the ethos behind it,” she said. That philosophy is also why the boutique doesn’t accept fast fashion. Trish sees a clear distinction between curated consignment and a thrift-store model, and keeping that distinction means choosing pieces designed to stay in wardrobes longer.

It is fashion with a circular approach: one person cleans out a closet, another discovers something new-to-them, and a well-made garment or accessory gets another life instead of potentially winding up in a landfill.

A Focus on Quality Over Quantity

Trish and her team carefully curate the items that make their way onto the boutique’s racks. The store generally looks for clothing that is five years old or newer, along with select vintage pieces. Designer labels are welcome, but an item doesn’t necessarily need to come from a luxury fashion house to make the cut. Construction, materials, condition, and overall quality matter, too.

The boutique also accepts accessories, including scarves, sunglasses, statement jewelry, handbags, and select shoes. “We try to pick and choose the best of the best,” she said. That careful approach is part of what Trish believes makes shopping at Again Boutique special. Rather than sorting through an overwhelming amount of inventory, customers find a smaller collection of deliberately chosen pieces.

How Consigning Works

For locals ready to clean out their closets, consignments are accepted by appointment.

Consigners can bring in up to 10 clothing items at a time for consideration, along with accessories, handbags, and shoes. Bringing an item in doesn’t automatically guarantee that the boutique will accept it – Trish and her team review each piece to determine whether it fits the store’s current inventory and standards.

Once accepted, items are prepared for the sales floor. Pieces are steamed, cleaned as needed, and displayed on special hangers to help give the boutique a polished, elevated feel.

The consignment period lasts 60 days. Trish said consigners are then given approximately five to seven additional days to retrieve anything that hasn’t sold. Items that aren’t picked up are donated to Women Giving Back, a Northern Virginia nonprofit that provides clothing and other essentials to women and children experiencing difficult circumstances.

For Trish, earning the trust of consigners is just as important as making a sale. She wants people leaving higher-end pieces with the boutique to know that their belongings will be cared for, displayed thoughtfully, and priced fairly. “We make sure that we try to sell your products at a fair value, and we protect their items because we do have a lot of high-end stuff,” she said.

Shopping Comes With a Side of Styling

Again Boutique is also designed to be more personal than the typical retail experience.

Trish regularly helps customers style pieces, whether someone walks in simply hoping to refresh a wardrobe or has a specific occasion on the calendar. She starts by learning more about the event, including when and where it is taking place and what season shoppers need to dress for. From there, she asks about personal style, favorite designers, and other preferences before steering shoppers toward pieces that might work.

The result is part consignment boutique, part personal styling session.

And given the store’s McLean location, Anderson said special-event dressing comes up often, with customers shopping for everything from formal events to other occasions around the D.C. area.
