Cutting Edge Ice Academy | 71 Midland Avenue, Elmwood Park

Cutting Edge Ice Academy consists of two indoor ice rinks and is a place to both improve your ice hockey skills or learn how to play. The large rink is two-thirds scale and used for individual and small-group training, clinics, and camps, while the small rink is designed for 1-on-1 goalie and skater lessons, including shooting, special skills, and goaltending. Both are available to be rented out. The facility is also home to the Cutting Edge King Cobras, a youth ice hockey league. Cutting Edge aims to improve “every aspect of your game,” and prides itself on providing professional-quality ice hockey training, per the website.

Dahnert’s Lake County Park | 500 County Road 67, Garfield

Dahnert’s Lake is an outdoor park where you can play roller hockey, weather permitting, in Garfield. The full park consists of a large pond with catch-and-release fishing, a playground, biking + walking paths, and a roller hockey rink. This spot is good for a casual game or practice with friends, just know that it may not always be available as it is a public rink with no reservations needed.
Ice House | 111 Midtown Bridge Street, Hackensack

Ice House is the most well-known spot for hockey in Bergen County, and is a top spot to play in New Jersey. Located right near downtown Hackensack, it has four regulation-size NHL rinks and is the home of youth ice hockey organization the North Jersey Avalanche. The rink has a variety of programs and classes, including summer hockey camp, skills clinics, adult leagues, and learn-to-play.
Inline Skating Club of America | 170 Schuyler Avenue, North Arlington

Located in North Arlington, the Inline Skating Club of America (ISCA) has a 175-foot by 80-foot roller and foot hockey rink. It’s the home of the ISCA Grizzlies, a roller hockey league with teams for all ages. Players 13 years old and younger, to those who are 45 years old and older, can sign up for a foot or roller league here. There are also learn-to-play and open hockey sessions, and the rink can be rented out for private sessions.
MacKay Ice Rink | 130 West Englewood Avenue, Englewood

MacKay Ice Rink, also known as John T. Wright Ice Arena, is housed within Englewood’s MacKay Park. The space hosts stick time sessions for ice hockey players looking to practice their skills for both children and adults. Residents of Englewood can sign up for $10, as opposed to $15 for non-residents. The website notes that stick time is not a pick-up game.

The Rink @ The Arena, American Dream Mall | 1 American Dream Way, East Rutherford

Inside the American Dream Mall is The Rink @ The Arena, an NHL regulation size ice rink. It’s located near the southeast part of the mall, and has views of the Ferris wheel right outside. Several youth and adult ice hockey leagues hold practices and/or games here during the season, including the Hoboken Rockets, New Jersey Falcons Youth Hockey, and American Dream’s adult “Dream League.” It also used to be the home of the Premier Hockey Federation’s (PHF) Metropolitan Riveters — a former professional women’s hockey team — in 2022. The East Rutherford ice rink can be rented out for groups for those looking to host their own hockey games or practices.
