Over three years later, the spot is looking to open on Friday, August 8th at 170 Union Avenue, just steps away from the Rutherford Train Station, per a source close to the team.
About The Union Bar + Provisions
Created by Bergen County locals William Murray and Patrick Dunne, The Union Bar + Provisions was built on this idea: “take the food and drinks people love and make them better than ever,” the team shared with BG. Situated at 170 Union Avenue in the former Railroad Cafe space, the location is close to the Rutherford train station (with ample parking, we might add) and right next to Mediterranean spot Eros Cafe.
Upon opening, The Union Bar + Provisions is planning to serve “nostalgic American comfort food with bistro fare,” as well as cocktails and beer. The menu will consist of dishes like the Union Burger, lobster rolls, steak frites, and more — and there will also be a raw bar. The space itself will be two levels and feature a bar, TVs, two dining rooms, and an outdoor patio. The ambiance draws inspiration from NYC taverns, including features like a high-ceiling bar, a comfortable dining area, and a mezzanine.
“Our mission is to offer not just great food and drink but exceptional service and a lively atmosphere that caters to a wide range of tastes and preferences,” the website says. “At The Union, we pride ourselves on our food from scratch.”
