The second Sunday of May is almost upon us and it’s time to honor that special someone this Mother’s Day. Whether it is a late-morning brunch, a quaint picnic, or fun activity, here at The Bergen Girl, we have you covered. Read on for our 2025 curated guide to Mother’s Day activities in Bergen County, NJ.

Activities

Board + Brush | 119 East Main Street, Ramsey

Board and Brush Studios is a DIY studio and is just the spot to get the creative juices flowing. On Mother’s Day from 2PM to 5PM it will host a DIY workshop event. Participants select wood from the shop’s gallery, all other materials are provided, and at the end of the night, walk out of there with something memorable. Register here for the Mother’s Day event.

Closter Farm Stand | 681 Closter Road, Closter

A home-cooked meal is a cozy Mother’s Day activity. Whether mom is cooking alongside you or watching her favorite dish heating up, fresh and local ingredients are a must. Open daily from 9PM to 6PM, Closter Farm Stand,has fresh produce, pantry items, dairy products, flowers, seasoning, and meat. Fresh produce includes turnips, lettuce, carrots, broccoli, onions, lemons, and apples as well as kombucha, cheese, milk, granola, seeds, olive oil, and spices.

The Hermitage Museum | 335 Franklin Turnpike, Ho-Ho-Kus

Visitors can dive into local history at The Hermitage Museum with a tour on Mother’s Day. Provided at 115PM, 2:15PM, and 315PM, the tours explore more than 250 years of American History.

Hiram Blauvet Art Museum | 705 Kinderkamack Road, Oradell

The Hiram Blauvet Art Museum opened in 1957 to promote the cultural value of wildlife art and the need for conservation of its subjects and their habitats. Open Sundays from 2PM to 5PM, the museum has indoor exhibits and an outdoor sculpture garden.

Palisades Interstate Park

The Palisades Interstate Park has so much to provide for history and nature buffs. BG suggests taking Mom to Henry Hudson Drive for a scenic drive along the Hudson River. Make sure to check out the George Washington Bridge and views from Pierson’s Perch.

Tenafly Nature Center | 313 Hudson Avenue, Tenafly

Explorers can celebrate Mother’s Day with a walk at the Tenafly Nature Center. From 11AM to 1PM this guided walk with a TNC Environmental Educator explores the beauty of the forest in bloom. Click here to book a reservation.

Restaurants

Cafe Angelique | 1 Piermont Road, Tenafly

If mom is a lover of history, Cafe Angelique is the place for her. Located in the historic Tenafly Train Station, a structure dating to the 1870s, this quaint spot has gender-neutral restrooms and free Wi-Fi. The menu features Shakshuka, avocado toast, Belgian waffles, pancakes with fruit, oatmeal, Bourekas, coffee, tea, and various wraps and salads. After brunch, take mom to the Roosevelt Commons for a tennis match or a walk in nature.

From Scratch | 44 East Ridgewood Avenue, Ridgewood

Founded by Chef Claudia Rovegno, a Roman native, From Scratch transports one straight to Italy. With a variety of pasta, dessert, and appetizers, BG suggests ordering the Ravioli with Walnut Sauce, which features ravioli filled with ricotta cheese and spinach served with walnut sauce made with parmigiano, pecorino, pine-nuts, walnuts, and milk. After brunch, make sure to stroll around Downtown Ridgewood, check out some stores, and visit the Van Neste Square Memorial Park.

Harmony Tea Room | 224 Fairview Avenue, Westwood

Inspired by the afternoon tea times of England, Harmony Tea Room features a quaint, calming dining experience unlike anywhere else in Bergen County. Mom can sit back, relax, and enjoy over 35 varieties of tea from around the world and sample warm scones, savory sandwiches, salads, and soups from the menu. Piccolo’s Gastronomia Italiana | 484 Bergen Boulevard, Ridgefield

The inside of Piccolo’s Gastronomia Italiana in Ridgefield is decked out with Italian specialties. From meat to cheese to preserves, there is so much here. BG suggests picking a selection of savory meats, soft cheese, preserves, crackers, and whatever else looks like a must, and walking over to Veterans Memorial Park or Columbus Park, or hopping into the car and driving a little further to North Hudson Park in North Bergen for a picnic.

Pinstripes | One Garden State Plaza, Paramus

Pinstripes in Paramus has a variety of entertainment and activities to do, like bowling and bocce. During weekend brunch, this spot has made-from-scratch Italian-American cuisine, and on Mother’s Day will be stocked with multiple action stations, classic breakfast selections, and a decadent chocolate fountain. Pricing is $45 for adults, $18 for children ages six to 12 years old, and children five and under eat free. Make a reservation here.

Sayola Restaurant | 50 Prospect Terrace, Tenafly

Open from 12PM to 9PM on Mother’s Day, Sayola Restaurant will feature a special three-course menu for the holiday featuring appetizers, an entree, and a dessert. The appetizers are either soup or salad, and the main entree allows one to pick between steak, lamb, pork chops, chicken, salmon, and paellas. For a sweet treat, Sayola has flan, cheesecake, Tiramisu, bread pudding, and arroz con leche.

ShabuRo | 520 Bergen Boulevard Store 2, Palisades Park

Fresh ingredients, the best meat available, house-made broths, and specialty dipping sauces are things  ShabuRo prides itself on. ShabuRo does not use MSG and nothing here is fried with oil, but instead prepared in deep and rich broths. Meat and seafood options are plentiful including pork belly and shoulder, chicken, lamb, tripe, and shrimp. Check it out from 11AM to 10pm on Mother’s Day.

Turmeric Indian Bistro | 34 Franklin Avenue, Ridgewood

Located in Downtown Ridgewood, Turmeric Indian Bistro is a modern-day Indian restaurant with spicy and flavorful authentic Indian cuisine. The menu boasts a wide range of Delhi’s Pan-Indian staple cuisines and specialty dishes. Lunch is served from 1130AM to 3PM and dinner is from 5PM to 1030PM.

Willow + Whisk | 319 Franklin Avenue, Wyckoff

Willow & Whisk is a modern and upscale eatery serving brunch daily from 8AM to 3PM. Classic brunch staples and signature specials can be found on the menu. BG suggests ordering any of the pancakes, burgers, or salads, especially the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes served with lemon curd, fresh blueberries, and sweet maple syrup.
