Don’t tell anyone, but the Shore post-Labor Day is maybe the best time to visit. It’s been another busy week DTS, and we’ve got all the headlines to get you up to speed. Among the highlights: residents are warned to look out for coyotes; a new Mediterranean-inspired restaurant opened in Allenhurst; and a Toms River brewery has created a special brew for the NJ Devils.

–New Jersey has permanently legalized cocktails-to-go (The New Jersey Girl).

–New Jersey could receive more than $752 million from a multistate settlement with Meta over allegations that Instagram and Facebook exposed young users to harmful and addictive features, with the agreement also requiring new youth safety restrictions on the platforms (The New Jersey Girl).
–NJ TRANSIT has debuted a redesigned website along with “Navvie,” an AI-powered chatbot designed to help riders with trip planning, schedules, service alerts, and other transit information (NJ TRANSIT).
–Two successful Jersey Shore seafood restaurants have been put up for sale after operating for five years, allowing prospective buyers to take over established coastal dining businesses (NJ.com).
–New Jersey has legalized small plug-in solar systems of up to 1,200 watts, making it easier for homeowners and renters to use portable solar panels (Electrek).
–Wildwood Crest police are warning residents and visitors to stay alert after multiple coyote sightings in the area, particularly when outside with pets or children (News 12 New Jersey).
–A 2-year-old girl was unharmed after tumbling from the Seaside Heights Sky Ride before it left the ground, while firefighters helped a 3-year-old boy who remained seated on the ride (News 12 New Jersey).
–NHL player Eric Robinson brought the Stanley Cup to Brigantine for a celebration with the Burns family and Carolina Hurricanes teammates (The Brigantine Times).
–Despite rainy weather during parts of the summer, Jersey Shore tourism businesses still saw visitors spending on dining, shopping, lodging, and entertainment throughout the 2026 season (Asbury Park Press).
–New Jersey is holding free in-person filing events in Monmouth and Ocean counties this fall to help residents apply for ANCHOR, Senior Freeze, and other property tax relief programs ahead of the November 2 deadline (Asbury Park Press).
–Battleview Orchards in Freehold will not offer apple picking this fall after a late-April freeze destroyed its entire apple crop, marking the first total loss the family has experienced in five generations of operating the farm (News 12 New Jersey).
–The 2026 FIFA World Cup generated an estimated $3.5 billion in total economic impact across New Jersey and New York, including approximately $1.9 billion in direct spending and more than $414 million in state and local tax revenue (NorthJersey.com).
