The Asbury Park Brewery is a laid-back spot right in the heart of downtown AP, known for its rotating lineup of locally brewed beers and live music. It’s super dog-friendly, so you can bring your pup along whether you’re posted up inside or stopping for a quick pint outdoors. .

The Asbury | 210 5th Avenue
The Asbury Hotel is awesome for so many reasons. First, the hotel lobby is pet-friendly. Second, the lobby has The Counter Café (open 24/7) and the Soundbooth lobby bar, which operate all year long and have great grab-and-go options as well as delicious cocktails. Third, free wifi is available if you’re coming to the lobby to work remotely. So whether meeting friends for a drink or hopping on a Zoom call, your pup can enjoy the hotel scene alongside you. Dogs are not allowed to swim in the pool or go up to The Asbury’s rooftop spaces: the Baronet or Salvation.
All-size dogs are allowed to stay overnight at The Asbury, and all 100 guest rooms are dog-friendly. There is a one-time fee of $100 + tax per stay, and it covers two dogs for the length of stay. A portion of the cost is donated to Rescue Ridge, a last-chance animal shelter in Howell, New Jersey. The Asbury collaborates with Rescue Ridge on events throughout the year, such as an adorable holiday-themed party where pups can get a photo with Santa.

Asbury Ale House encourages patrons to bring their dogs — just check out the canine-filled Instagram feed. It even accommodates a doggy diet with its dedicated Doggie Menu. Meals for pups include beef and rice, chicken and rice, chicken and penne, beef and penne, and veggies with rice. Ale House’s outdoor patio area is dog-friendly as long as the dogs are leashed. This centrally-located, downtown establishment has a huge selection of delicious and Instagrammable food and drink options.
Asbury Park Distilling Co. | 527 Lake Avenue
Asbury Park Distilling Co.’s outdoor seating options are dog-friendly. The patio seating lies right below the Asbury Festhalle + Biergarten and overlooks Wesley Lake in Ocean Grove. Asbury Park Distilling Co. is Asbury Park’s first and only distillery. It has an incredibly creative cocktail menu, and all of the craft spirits are manufactured on-site.
Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel | 1401 Ocean Avenue
Furry friends are welcome at The Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel. Whether staying overnight or just popping in for a drink, dogs are allowed inside the hotel bar. Visitors must pay a one-time non-refundable Fee of $100 + $25 per pet per night, and all pets visiting the Berkeley Hotel must be leashed in public spaces. The hotel is conveniently located right between Asbury Park Dog Beach and The Wonder Bar, which has a dog-friendly patio and hosts the iconic “Yappy Hour” event on a weekly basis.
Betty’s Ice Box | 1300 Ocean Avenue (inside of Convention Hall on the Boardwalk)
While walking through Convention Hall on the boardwalk, be sure to treat your fur baby to a pup cup. Betty’s has dog-friendly ice cream as well as a variety of Hawaiian shaved ice, ice pops, vegan ice cream, candy, and chocolates for humans. Convention Hall is a great place to get a reprieve from the blazing sun, seek shelter from the rain, and grab a frozen dessert with your dog.

The Black Swan is a European gastropub headed by Chef James Avery that serves British and Irish fare. Leashed dogs are allowed at the outdoor seating area, which is located right at the center of downtown Asbury Park, a prime shopping location. Not only is it an ideal spot to people-watch and meet other pups walking by, but you also get to sit among their gorgeous, pink outdoor floral display — and take a cute pic of your dog with it.

Dogs are allowed inside Confections of a Rockstar Bakery, and it even has a dog-friendly cupcake called “Hound Dog.” The human menu contains an insane amount of mini cupcakes, cosmic brownies, cheesecake, cookies, and cakes — with gluten-free and dairy-free options, as well.

Cookman Creamery is known for its delectable traditional and vegan ice cream menu. But did you know your dog can get something too? A vegan vanilla doggie scoop is available for canine friends. Outdoor seating outside of the shop on Cookman Avenue is limited but dog-friendly.

Cross and Orange’s outdoor seating is dog-friendly and available on both Cookman Avenue and along the side of Kennedy Park, which is a great option if your pup needs a little less stimulation from the pedestrian-heavy downtown area.
Crust + Crumble | 633 Lake Avenue
Crust + Crumble Pizzeria + Bakery has some of the best vegan and gluten-free options in Asbury Park and provides outdoor, dog-friendly seating. The outdoor patio faces Wesley Lake and Ocean Grove and is just a few steps away from Pet Paws Boutique inside the Shoppes at The Arcade. You can even grab your dog some Crust + Crumble swag, like this adorable C+C bandana, while you’re there.
Iron Whale | 1200 Ocean Avenue
Iron Whale in Asbury Park is a restaurant right on the boardwalk known for its seafood-focused menu and lively patio scene. Dogs are welcome at the street-side outdoor tables, where you can also order them a “Yappy Meal” which includes options like turkey, burger, meatballs, and a pup cup.
