Movie night in Bergen County is staying on the big screen. After recent concerns that iPic Theaters in Fort Lee could close, the dine-in movie theater has officially been saved following its acquisition by CMX Cinemas. Located at 2023 Hudson Street inside Hudson Lights, iPic Fort Lee has been a local go-to since opening on August 5th, 2016. This theater is known for reclining seats, in-theater dining, cocktails, and food delivered directly to guests’ seats. Read on for more about iPic Theaters in Fort Lee and what this means for Bergen County moviegoers.
The Original Closure Concerns
Back in March 2026, Jersey Digs reported that iPic Theaters in Fort Lee was expected to close after nearly a decade in business. The news came as a disappointment to many locals, especially those who had come to rely on the theater as one of the area’s few nearby options for a full movie night experience without having to travel far.
According to Jersey Digs, iPic Theaters LLC had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Florida. At the time, the company operated 13 dine-in theater locations and eight restaurant units nationwide. The Fort Lee outpost at Hudson Lights was its only New Jersey location. The potential closure would have marked the end of a nearly 10-year run for the Bergen County theater.
iPic Fort Lee Will Stay Open
Just a few months after the news of its closure, the story took a major turn. Rather than closing for good, iPic Fort Lee has been spared. CMX Cinemas has acquired several iPic locations across Texas, Georgia, Florida, Maryland, and New Jersey, including the Fort Lee theater. The acquisition means Bergen County moviegoers can continue visiting the Hudson Lights location for movies, dining, and the theater’s signature premium experience. Even better: the theater is expected to continue operating under the iPic brand, so guests can still expect the same elevated moviegoing setup that made the Fort Lee location a local favorite in the first place.
