Northern New Jersey is filled with lots of hidden gems for fans of comics, cards, and other collectibles. If you’re a big fan of TCGs (trading card games) and in need of a community to play with, several stores host weekly tournaments for TCGs like Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, Riftbound, and much more. Even if you’re more of a comics and retro game lover, you’re in luck with a slew of stores that touch all bases. It’s super easy to nerd out inside these magical places. A + S Comics | 7512 Bergenline Avenue, North Bergen

AS Comics North Bergen

A + S comics has two locations based in Northern NJ: Teaneck and North Bergen. With official recognition as the Bergen County Winner of 2025 in the Comic Book Store category, this shop has an abundance of new releases and back issues for comics. On the A + S website, pre-orders for recent releases are available for shipping to your home or pickup at the Teaneck location. Despite the name, comics aren’t the only things sold – the inventory includes everything from various collectibles, from Funko Pops to figures and sealed Pokémon products.

Booming TCG carries a wide variety of TCGs from Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Lorcana, Magic: The Gathering, Riftbound, and more. The monthly calendar is always packed with events, such as weekly tournaments, regional championships, and pre-releases for Magic: The Gathering and Pokémon. If you’re more of a newcomer, Booming offers learn-to-play events for the Pokémon TCG every Tuesday and Wednesday in a comfortable and interactive environment. There are also various sealed products for TCG and binders stacked with Pokémon cards to add to your collection.

Kaleido TCG | 113 Tidewater Street, 1G A, Jersey City

Kaleido TCG Jersey City

Kaleido TCG is a community hub for casual fans, competitive players, and collectors of TCG to connect and play. Kaleido specializes in Pokémon TCG, One Piece Card Game, Gundam Card Game, and Riftbound. For both card collectors and players, Kaleido offers dozens of binders, bulk boxes, and graded cards to look through for your deck or display. It also offers PSA submission services–a renowned card authenticator for TCG and sports cards, for those with a knack for graded cards and various sealed products. Kaleido hosts weekly tournament events for competitive players of TCG and on special occasions, pre-release events for several TCGs.

Manifest Comics and Cards has been open since 2012, and since then has been dedicated to serving long-time hobbyists and newcomers to the TCG. Manifest hosts weekly card game nights from Pokémon to Riftbound, and the community is always down to help new players understand the game. Besides TCG, Manifest is filled with newly released comics and back issues for comic lovers to search through. Every week is a Throwback Thursday with 50% a selection of back issues on comics, and for younger comic lovers, there is a comic credit exchange for good grades, with every grade of 90 or higher earning $1 towards a back issue comic. Pixelated Treasures | 527 Shaler Boulevard, Ridgefield

Pixelated Treasures Ridgefield

This is our go-to spot for retro games, comics, and cards in Bergen County.  Behind the counter, there is an abundance of retro consoles ranging from handhelds like the 3DS and PS Vita to the GameCube and Xbox 360, not to mention tons of games to pick up for whichever console is purchased. There are lots of comics and stacks of Pokémon cards to flip through, as well as sealed products, both new and old. Occasionally, Pixelated Treasures will host a trade night with a $5 entrance fee, where you can trade cards for ones that’ll better suit your collection. Retro Game Cave | 694 Bergen Boulevard 1st floor, Ridgefield

With only one step through the door, the Retro Game Cave makes you feel like you’ve flashed back to the past. It is located on the 1st floor at 694 Bergen Boulevard, notably marked by the presence of a large inflatable Pikachu calling the attention of passersby to come inside. The store remains true to its name, with a small but remarkable presence of stacked retro video games and consoles you could spend hours digging through. Aside from retro games, there are sealed Pokémon products, both modern and retro, and boxes filled with vintage cards.

The Game Zone | 106 Broadway, Hillsdale

The Game Zone Hillsdale

The Game Zone is a great place to visit for all things retro video games, cards, and collectibles. For video games, there are both modern and retro games, so you can shop from any era. It’s also a go-to hub for competitive players and collectors of TCG, with booster packs and rare cards from Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh, and more. The Game Zone also hosts casual play nights for Magic: The Gathering every Wednesday and league nights for Pokémon every Friday.
