Among the highlights: the Bruce Springsteen Archives + Center for American Music opened at Monmouth University; popular Morristown pizza spot Conigilio’s opened in Asbury Park; and extreme heat temporarily closed Point Pleasant’s drawbridge operations to marine traffic.

– The Boss is back. The Bruce Springsteen Archives + Center for American Music at Monmouth University officially opened (The Jersey Shore Girl).

– We’re #1! Independent bookstore LBI Bookswap was named the #1 bookstore in the county by USA Today (LBI Bookswap via Instagram). 

– Someone say late-night bites?! Point Pleasant’s OB Diner has reopened two years after closing, bringing back a familiar local dining spot for the summer season (OB Diner via Facebook). 

The Monmouth County SPCA raised over $410,000 at its 2026 Fur Ball Gala, Cirque du Shelter, to support shelter operations, veterinary care, animal rescue, adoption programs, humane education, and other lifesaving services for animals in need (2026 Fur Ball Post Press Release). 

– New on the block — new cafe Lili is opening soon on the Asbury Park boardwalk in the former Stella Marina space (via a reader DM). 

Mary’s Place by the Sea in Ocean Grove is celebrating 10 years at its current location with an open house highlighting its free emotional, physical, and spiritual support services for women with cancer (WOBM).

– The chaos begins. The first match of the 2026 World Cup in New Jersey was played on Saturday, June 13, resulting in a tie between Morocco and Brazil (USAToday).

– Scoops up. Jersey Cow, a homemade ice cream shop, will open its fourth location in Margate later this summer  (NJ.com).

– Playing possum? Even local wildlife loves the Wildwood Boardwalk (@drewbeingdrew via TikTok). 

– Say cheese! Signage for a new spot called Trofi by Chez Cheese was spotted at the Asbury Park Convention Center (via a reader DM). 

A fair in Freehold raised awareness for domestic violence (Jersey Shore Online).

– New new. Signage for a new restaurant called Dune Ocean Cuisine was spotted in Ortley Beach (via a reader DM). 

– Marine traffic jam. The Route 13/Bridge Avenue Bridge in Point Pleasant was closed to marine traffic for several hours on Friday, June 12th, due to extreme heat (NJDOT). 

Federal Donuts + Chicken, a popular Philly-based donut and fried chicken chain, opened its first Jersey Shore location (NJ.com).

– No thank you, part two. Sprinklers came on at the Stone Pony Summer Stage accidentally, soaking audience members 

– All aboard. Paddle boat rides on Village Greene Lake have returned to historic Smithville after lake-related issues disrupted the attraction last year (NJ.com).

– Sandy toes. A beach replenishment project has started in Sea Isle City despite concerns about the timing during peak summer season (6abc).

– Bragging rights. Two New Jersey beaches, Point Pleasant and Stone Harbor, were ranked among the nation’s cleanest(Islands).

– Say it ain’t so. Stella’s Ball Library, a toy + stick library for dogs, was removed from the Asbury Park boardwalk, sparking local attention around the beloved pet-friendly installation (Asbury Park Press).

Oak Hill Farm in Holmdel closed after a judge’s order and is facing $70,000 in fines (Asbury Park Press).

The Seaside Heights Fire Department is looking to grow its ranks with support from a FEMA grant (Jersey Shore Online).

– No thank you, part III. An invasive jellyfish known for its painful sting has returned to the Jersey Shore (Yahoo Weather).

– The boardwalk is hot – literally. A fire broke out on the Seaside Heights boardwalk on Sunday, June 14th, and was quickly extinguished (NJ 101.5).

–  Karma always wins. The theft of a donation jar for the Humane Society of Ocean City led to charges for the alleged perpetrator and an outpouring of community support (6abc).

– Let’s go to the mall. Freehold Raceway Mall is adding new stores and renovations for summer (Jersey Shore Online).

– Knicks win! New York City is planning to hold a ticker-tape parade on Thursday, June 18th for the Knicks following the team’s championship run (PIX11).
