PDRdesigns — a boutique architecture firm in Point Pleasant owned by architect Paul David Rugarber — recently shared a digital design rendering of the currently unnamed but working titled “Point Pleasant Brewery” on its Instagram. The digital 3D model video provides the first glimpse of what the future microbrewery will look like at 334 Hawthorne Avenue.

The architectural firm has been documenting its work on the brewery through short video clips on its official YouTube channel since May 2023.

“We’re going to repurpose a majority of the building so we can keep its historical feel,” PDRdesigns shared on YouTube, “The old clock tower – the beacon of Point Pleasant Beach for a long time – is gonna be taken off, repurposed, we’re gonna put that back on top as one of the salvaged items that becomes an icon in the area.”

Paul revealed that the brewery will have outdoor seating and an area for live music every weekend. The design team also confirmed via Instagram replies that there will be an outdoor game area in the back section of the brewery.

“It’s the perfect hangout spot for the summer!” Paul shared.

Unfortunately, PDRdesigns commented that the brewery will not be open or ready for the summer 2024 season. There is currently no set date or anticipated timeline for opening. Alcohol and parking permits for businesses required from the town, state, and county generally take a lot of time to be submitted and approved, creating a long wait for both the owners and locals who are excited about the new spot.

Locals can anticipate continued updates and information about the upcoming Point Pleasant Brewery via PDRdesigns social media accounts.

PDRdesigns’ other local commercial building designs include Point Creamery in Point Pleasant, Green Leaf Pet Resort in Ocean, and Romeo’s Italian American in Freehold.

The brewery was first pitched to the Point Pleasant Beach Planning Board in December 2021. According to Patch, a proposal by Hawthorne Shores LLC included a plan to demolish the remaining buildings at the former Point Bay Fuel site on Hawthorne Avenue in Point Pleasant and to replace them with a two-story, 3,687-square-foot building to house a brewery and tasting rooms. The proposal included a plan for 179 seats inside and outdoor seating for 80 people.

The new Point Pleasant Brewery will join two existing breweries in town: Last Wave Brewing Co. in Point Pleasant Beach and Frye Brewing Company in Point Pleasant Borough.
