Despite all of the excitement and hype of Asbury Park, it’s easy to find zen at one of the many yoga studios in the area. Everything from vinyasa and hatha to reiki and sound bath meditation classes can be found in-studio or on the beach. Oceanfront classes provide an ethereal and spiritual experience, while in-studio sessions have tranquility amongst funky and idyllic decor. Whether you’re a beginner who can barely touch your toes or a seasoned yogi who can hold a headstand for an hour, there’s a space and a class that is perfect for your practice. Asbury Park

Join AP Yoga every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 7:45AM on the Asbury Park Sunset (6th Avenue) Beach. Drop-ins are welcome, no registration or beach badge is required. There is free street parking until 9AM, which is when classes end. Any weather-related cancellations will be posted on the AP Yoga Facebook page by 7AM. The class fee is a suggested donation of $10 cash, check, or through Venmo: @Arthur-Fama or @Philip-Book. It is recommended by AP Yoga that participants bring a large towel, blanket, or sheet to class rather than a yoga mat.

The Daley Practice Iyengar Yoga of Asbury Park | 625 Bangs Avenue

The Daley Practice is an Iyengar studio in Asbury Park. The studio teaches yoga in the tradition of B.K.S. Iyengar. Iyengar Yoga puts focus on body alignment while developing strength, stamina, flexibility, and balance. This style of yoga is accessible to everyone regardless of age, ability, or physical limitations. The studio’s website explains that beginners start with standing yoga poses and are gradually introduced to a fuller range of sitting and reclining yoga postures, forward extensions, inversions, twists, backbends, and arm balances. Teachers will go on to incorporate an array of props — designed by B.K.S. Iyengar — like wall ropes, chairs, blocks, belts, and blankets to make the pose more manageable and give support when needed. Classes at The Daley Practice are categorized by levels of experience to ensure a safer and more comfortable environment for all students.

KUR Wellness Studios | 412 Bond Street

Finding zen and tranquility in the hip downtown area of Asbury Park is easy at Kur Wellness Studios. Kur offers services such as massages, facials, waxing, eastern Ayurvedic therapies, and diet and lifestyle coaching. But most importantly, the wellness center offers yoga classes in the yoga studio that doubles as a private personal training gym. Gift certificates to Kur make a fabulous gift, but if you’re looking to treat yourself, Kur Clubs has monthly membership programs for bundles of massages, skin care treatments, and yoga classes.

Movement Institute | 603 Mattison Avenue Suite 306

The Movement Institute in Asbury Park offers therapeutic care to all ages through massage therapy, movement therapy, stretching, meditation, and breathing, focusing on holistic practices. Tracy Garcia — founder of the Movement Institute — is a licensed Manual Therapist and Somatic Educator. For over two decades, Tracy has helped professional athletes, people afflicted with strokes and who have become immobile, special needs children and adults with various learning + intellectual disabilities, with her movement therapy. Avon-By-The-Sea

Jersey Shore Hot Yoga | 622 Main Street

Jersey Shore Hot Yoga, located in Avon-By-The-Sea, offers over 30 diverse classes per week for all levels of yogis. The studio is designed with state-of-the-art heating panels and wood flooring and prides itself on being an all-natural, hypo-allergenic, and eco-friendly setting. The studio asks that guests follow hot yoga etiquette, which includes arriving to class on time, only bringing in a mat, towels, and water into class, and leaving phones in cubbies or in your car. The studio also requests that you use a towel, clean up your space, come to class showered/clean, and clean your gear regularly for hygienic and overall comfort reasons. Belmar

Metta Yoga is a new, infrared-heated boutique yoga studio in Belmar, New Jersey. The studio offers a variety of class types, including vinyasa, yin, slow flow, and aerial. The slow flow is beginner friendly while the rest vary from novice to advanced levels. Drop-in classes are $22.  Guests can find many package and membership options on Metta’s website that include unlimited classes at both the Belmar and Tinton Fall locations, as well as private sessions and live stream access.

Bradley Beach

Green Lotus Yoga + Wellness | 316 Main Street

Bradley Beach’s newest yoga studio, Green Lotus Yoga + Wellness, specializes in providing transformative yoga instruction for yogis of all levels as well as energy healing services to help individuals achieve holistic well-being. Classes and events that include yoga, energy healing, meditation, sound alchemy, and manifestation can be found on Green Lotus’ stacked calendar. There’s a class type for everyone at Green Lotus and they even offer services such as reiki, IET: Integrated Energy Therapy, and community acupuncture on-site. Drop-in classes are $18. Ohana Rising Yoga Studio | 57 Main Street

Ohana Rising Yoga Studio in Bradley Beach offers Ashtanga, Kundalini + yin/yang yoga classes, and Zen Buddhist meditation. The studio also offers sound baths, teacher training, creative arts, and classes for children – appropriately and adorably called The Peace School. Patrons can check out Ohana Rising’s FAQ page for specific questions regarding beginner-level classes and pre-natal-friendly yoga. Single, drop-in classes are $20.  Guests can find unlimited pricing, gift cards, and membership pricing on the website.

Salted Soul Yoga + Wellness | ​​Lareine Avenue Beach

Salted Soul Yoga offers a variety of wellness services, including sunrise and sunset beach yoga classes, guided meditations, sound bath experiences, community jam circles, yoga hikes, beach cleanups, workshops for kids/teens and families, community wellness, small groups, and private instruction. During the summer months, Salted Soul founder and instructor Mel Gustray hosts sunrise and sunset yoga – as well as special pop-up events – on the LaReine Avenue beach in Bradley Beach. Spring Lake

Karma Barre + Yoga Studio | 2405 NJ Route 71

Karma Barre + Yoga Studio wants you to quiet your mind, increase your flexibility, improve muscle stamina, and connect with your true self at the studio’s yoga classes. You can join Karma Barre in-studio or at the beach. Beach classes are held Friday through Sunday mornings on the south end pavilion in Spring Lake on Ocean Avenue between Atlantic and Salem Avenues until Labor Day. Karma Barre’s classes mix elements of pilates, dance, yoga, and functional training — all to the beat of music.
