It’s always fun when a new food starts to trend, and every coffee shop, bakery, and store loves to share their creative take on it. But when it becomes in high demand, it can be hard to keep up. For Steady Hand Cafe, located at 710 Main Street in Bradley Beach, the solution is to connect customers directly to the ingredient. Keep reading to learn more about Steady Hand and its new syrups.
About The Dot Cake Lattes
In late May, the coffee shop at 710 Main Street, Bradley Beach, announced it was adding a featured latte to its menu inspired by the viral dot cake trend. Dot Cakes is a New York-based bakery that makes cakes in various flavors, decorated with nonpareils. In May, the company went viral for their Dot Cups, which were mini versions of their cake in 8oz cups. Since then, many other food and drink spots have created their own version of Dot Cake desserts, including Steady Hand Cafe.

The cafe’s version was a latte that included caramelized milk, almond and vanilla “cake” syrups with cold foam and rainbow nonpareils. The good news for Steady Hand was that the latte was a hit and sold out in less than a week. The bad news was that the high demand for the round sprinkles, which are technically called non-pareils, was so big, it has made it harder to find enough to be able to continue to sell the lattes. Instead, the cafe came up with a creative way to continue selling Dot Cake lattes without having to worry about the sprinkle shortage.
The Solution
Instead of making the lattes there, Steady Hand will sell its house-made cake syrups so that customers can make their own versions of Dot Cake lattes. Each container of syrup comes in a large squeeze bottle with a label reading, “the good good,” and will include a container of sprinkles to go with it. Now, customers can make their own Dot Cake lattes at home by incorporating the syrup into their coffees or cold foam. In a time where the search for nonpareils seems impossible, Steady Hand Cafe has found a way to keep the store and its customers on trend.
