Fall has officially arrived and that means spooky season is right around the corner. Jersey Shore locals are gearing up for the annual Asbury Park Zombie Walk, which will take place on Saturday, October 4th and entail a large gathering of people dressed in zombie costumes. The event will go down the Asbury Park boardwalk, and end at Johnny Macs House of Spirits on Main Street. Read on for more about the 2025 Asbury Park Zombie Walk at the Jersey Shore.
Event Details
The 2025 Asbury Park Zombie Walk — presented by Johnny Macs House of Spirits — will return for its 17th year on Saturday, October 4th. The walk will start on the boardwalk, go down towards the casino, turn on Cookman Avenue, and then head into downtown. It will take place rain or shine. The schedule is as follows:
- 11AM: Zombies begin gathering on the Asbury Park boardwalk
- 11AM-3PM: Zombie makeovers
- 3PM: Costume contest judges in the crowd
- 4PM: Zombie Walk starts at the Asbury Park Convention Hall (1300 Ocean Avenue)
- 6PM: Zombie Walk ends at Johnny Macs

The free zombie makeovers are first-come, first-served and are available in a limited capacity. Makeup artists will be on-site to provide contact-free airbrush makeup at the Zombie Walk tent, located at the 4th Avenue Green Space on the boardwalk. Participants are also welcome to attend in their own makeup.
Cash prizes will be awarded for the Best Young Zombie, Best Adult, Best Couple, + Best Group costumes. Final judging will take place at 6PM at Johnny Macs. The “Golden Zombie” trophy will also be awarded to some of the day’s “most impressive dead.”
Per the website, a zombie walk is an “organized public gathering of people who dress up like zombies and then make their way around city streets in an orderly fashion for fun.” In this case, the event will take place on Asbury Park‘s boardwalk before making its way down to Johnny Macs on Main Street.
The Asbury Park Zombie Walk was founded in 2008 and has become one of the most anticipated fall events on the boardwalk. It is recognized as one of the largest events of its kind in the USA, per the website.
