This family-owned shop is based on a simple idea: great food, real coffee, and a place to relax. Owners Jenny Liu and Julio Santana incorporate their Chinese-American and Dominican heritages into the menu. You can find seaweed and miso alongside fried cheese and Dominican salami, all served on hand-rolled, made-in-house bagels. Arrive early; when the bagels are gone, they won’t be back for the day.
Bakeshop | 421 Maple Avenue East
Hours: Monday through Sunday from 8AM to 3PM

Northern Virginia’s beloved independent bakery has opened its third location in the heart of Vienna. This site has more seating than any other Bakeshop. Founded in Arlington in 2010, it has grown from a cupcake shop into a neighborhood staple known for its nostalgic treats. Vienna-exclusive items include the black-and-white cookie and the salty oat apricot cookie, making the trip worthwhile.
Café de Vienna | 122 Church Street SE
Hours: Tuesday through Sunday, 8AM to 5PM

This family-owned café has been open on Vienna’s historic Church Street since September 2023. It has breakfast sandwiches, hot-pressed paninis, and fresh French pastries baked each morning in a relaxed setting. The drink menu features organic, fair-trade coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice. On sunny days, the outdoor patio has some of the best seating in town.

Caffe Amouri | 107 Church Street NE
Hours: Monday to Thursday, 6AM to 9PM; Friday to Saturday, 6AM to 10PM; Sunday, 7AM to 8PM
Vienna’s original independent roaster is a true local gem. Known for its excellent dark roasts and award-winning beans roasted in small batches, this café creates a welcoming atmosphere that attracts regulars of all ages. Breakfast highlights include a sun-dried tomato, egg, and spinach sandwich on an English muffin, as well as specialty lattes like the London Haze and Mexican hot chocolate. It opens early at 6AM on weekdays. Since Caffe Amouri bans laptops on the weekends, if the plan is to fuel up for a day of remote work, make sure to do it here on a Monday through Friday.
Carnegie Diner & Café | 501 Maple Avenue W

The Carnegie Diner is a café that offers comfort food using organic eggs, serving breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner all day. The breakfast menu at Carnegie includes a Classic Benedict with the option to add lobster, a BLT Quinoa bowl with chopped bacon and poached eggs, steak and eggs, and more than 10 varieties of pancakes, waffles, and French toast. This spot is great for a crowd because there are several vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free menu items.
FRAME Coffee Roasters | 302 Maple Avenue West

This neighborhood coffee shop has a 4.7-star rating from over 550 customers. It is popular among remote workers, students, and coffee lovers who appreciate the craft and consistency. Signature drinks include the Pistachio Cream Latte and Milky Way Latte, both known for their smooth textures and layered flavors. Pastries, particularly the matcha scone and croffle, also have a dedicated fan base. A BLT breakfast sandwich with fresh lettuce, tomato, and egg rounds out the morning menu.

The Virginian Restaurant | 152 Maple Avenue West
Hours: Daily, 7AM to 2PM
This diner has been a Vienna institution since 1965. With a cozy atmosphere, it serves comfort-food breakfasts that keep regulars returning year after year. Popular orders include sausage gravy and biscuits, French toast, and Eggs Benedict. The crispy home fries have earned their own reputation. Open daily from 7AM to 2PM, it is one of the earliest and most reliable breakfast spots on Maple Avenue.
Vienna Inn | 120 Maple Avenue East
Hours: Monday through Saturday, 8AM to 11AM

This fixture on Maple Avenue East has been around since 1960, best known for its chili dogs. Its breakfast menu, which includes omelets, pancakes, sandwiches, and egg-and-meat plates, also holds its own. The easygoing atmosphere, cold beers, and loyal crowd of long-time customers define this place. A recent win in Northern Virginia Magazine’s 2024 NoVA Breakfast Wars competition, beating 31 competitors, confirmed what locals already knew.
Toastique | 208 Dominion Road NE
Hours: Daily from 7AM to 5PM
This counter-service spot located right off the W&OD Trail caters to early trail walkers, cyclists, and weekend brunch-goers. Toastique serves gourmet toasts, smoothie bowls, cold-pressed juices, and craft coffee, all fast and fresh with no reservations needed. Crowd favorites include the Avocado Smash, PB Crunch Toast topped with honey-roasted peanut butter and fresh fruit, and Smoked Salmon Toast on sourdough with herbed cream cheese, capers, and pickled onion.
