Meet Harry: A Playful + Affectionate Dog Available for Adoption in Northern Virginia

The Fairfax Girl is so excited to announce our partnership with Lost Dog + Cat Rescue Foundation, a local non-profit dedicated to caring for animals in need. We’ll be sharing adoptable pets each month, and more about how you can support this effort.

August’s pet of the month is Harry, a 47-pound terrier mix. Harry is not a wizard or a prince, but he is ready to bring plenty of magic into his future family’s life. This sweet and goofy pup loves staying active, playing with his toys, and ending the day with a very enthusiastic cuddle session. Harry is currently available for adoption through the Lost Dog + Cat Rescue Foundation. The 3-year-old terrier mix is looking for an active forever home where he can enjoy daily adventures, plenty of playtime, and all the affection he deserves. Read on to learn more about Harry and how to apply to adopt him.

Adoptable Pet of the Month: Harry

Harry is a playful, toy-loving pup who is always ready for a game of fetch or another fun activity with his people. He enjoys going for walks, does well on a leash, and likes sticking close to whoever is joining him on the adventure. Harry is also great in the car, meaning he’s down for road trips and weekend outings.

Once playtime is over, Harry’s cuddly side comes out. He loves burrowing into his people for a big hug and may even try to convince his future family that a 47-pound dog can, in fact, be a lap dog.

As for who his favorite people may be, caretakers have observed that he prefers female humans and dogs, and would do best in a home with older children. Harry’s size and energy level mean he’d be a great fit for a family with tweens or teenagers. Harry has also gotten along well with other dogs and enjoys spending time in playgroups at the rescue center. He’s also spent time in a foster home with three other dogs.

He is crate-trained, has good manners around the house, and already knows how to sit. Harry’s eagerness to learn means there could be plenty of new tricks in his future, too. Prospective adopters can learn more about Harry and submit an adoption application through the Lost Dog + Cat Rescue Foundation.

PS: Not ready to adopt? Harry is also available to foster. Community members can support the rescue by fostering an animal, volunteering, donating, or sharing adoptable pets with friends and family.
