There are pajamas, and then there are pajamas covered in Eiffel Towers, florals, holiday prints, and the kind of details that make bedtime feel significantly more fun. BedHead PJs has built its brand around that idea, and Northern Virginia shoppers can now see it IRL at its new Mosaic boutique, located at 2910 District Avenue, Suite 155. The Mosaic shop is BedHead PJs’ second brick-and-mortar store, following its Bleecker Street location in New York City. Inside, shoppers can find the brand’s signature colorful pajama sets plus vintage vibes and other treasures. Read on for more about BedHead PJs at Mosaic.
About the Brand
BedHead PJs was founded in California in 1998 by artist Renee Claire, who set out to make sleepwear a lot less boring. “She was the Lisa Frank of pajamas,” Michelle Barresi, VP of Brand + Marketing, told The Fairfax Girl. “Renee saw a gap in the market for sleepwear that felt more playful, colorful, and unexpected, so she began creating whimsical prints and turning them into pajamas.”

The brand became known for its soft cotton fabrics, family matching pajamas, inclusive sizing, and statement-making designs. Komar acquired BedHead PJs around 2016, with the goal of preserving Renee’s original vision for the company. “My favorite thing about the pajamas is that any time you gift them to somebody, they say, ‘These are the most amazing pajamas we have ever had,’” Michelle said. “They’re so fun. They’re so colorful.”
BedHead PJs’ prints are still at the center of the brand. Travel is a major source of inspiration, particularly destinations the team knows resonate with BedHead shoppers. Paris, for example, may show up through Eiffel Towers, florals, stripes, or other unexpected interpretations rather than a straightforward travel print. The designers balance scenic patterns with tossed icons, feminine details, florals, and classic stripes, while keeping the playful BedHead aesthetic intact. Holiday collections are also a major part of the business, with seasonal pajamas among the brand’s strongest sellers.
Mosaic Location
BedHead PJs opened its first store on Bleecker Street in New York City in 2024. After the Bleecker Street shop proved successful, the team began looking for a second location. The brand was specifically searching for a location that felt more like a neighborhood gathering place than a traditional shopping mall.
“It has to be a community space,” Michelle said. “It has to be a place where people want to hang out, and they want to walk around, and they want to discover something.” Mosaic checked those boxes.
The goal is for the storefront itself to catch the attention of shoppers who may have never heard of the brand before. “It’s like, ‘Oh, I don’t know what BedHead PJs is, but look how cute that little store is. I need to go in there and see what it is,’” Michelle said. From there, she joked, “We have you hooked.” Michelle describes the store as a “jewel box,” and that is the goal: a small, colorful space packed with things shoppers did not necessarily walk in looking for.

While the PJs are obviously the main event, the Mosaic shop has plenty of smaller finds mixed in. Shoppers can browse slippers, nail polish, candles, hair accessories, and other colorful gifts alongside pajama sets for the entire family. “There’s really something for everyone,” Michelle said. “We have PJs for the entire family, plus the dog.”
One of the coolest details at the new Mosaic store is hiding inside the dressing room. At BedHead PJs’ Bleecker Street location, the dressing room features custom wallpaper depicting little scenes from New York City, including the store itself. That artwork was later transformed into an exclusive pajama print available only at the Bleecker Street shop.

Mosaic is getting the same treatment. The Northern Virginia store has its own specially designed wallpaper, which will eventually become a Mosaic-exclusive pajama print. The print is expected to launch in 2027 and will only be available to purchase inside the Mosaic store. “You cannot get it online, you cannot get it anywhere except the Mosaic store,” Michelle said.
Bedhead PJ’s will open on Saturday, August 22nd at 2910 District Avenue, #155, Fairfax
