Riverview Jazz began as a grassroots concert at the Riverview Farmers Market in the Jersey City Heights in 2013. In just a few short years Riverview Jazz was producing or partnering in over 100 free-to-the-public performances a year in Hudson County, including the Jersey City Jazz Festival, the largest outdoor jazz festival in the NYC tri-state area. Riverview Jazz programming focuses mainly on straight-ahead jazz, Latin jazz, and those sounds left-of-center. No mainstream pop acts at our jazz festivals, dig?
The goal is simple – great music to the people in a fun environment. A party where everyone is welcome and the music is happening. As Ornette says “Friends and Neighbors, that’s where it’s at!”
The main festival happens between Friday, May 29 and Sunday, May 31 across multiple stages on the Hudson River Waterfront at Exchange Place Plaza and features beautiful panoramic views of Manhattan. Between Tuesday, May 26 and Thursday, May 28, events are held in various venues across Jersey City.
