Bergen County foodies, assemble. We have another reason to arrive hungry this summer. A Japanese Food Festival is coming to Overpeck County Park on Saturday, August 1st, 2026, with Japanese street food, live music, Taiko drumming, traditional dancing, and activities for the whole family. Hosted by the Japanese American Association of New Jersey, the free event will run from 11 AM to 8 PM in the park’s amphitheater area. About the Japanese Food Festival
The Japanese American Association of New Jersey, also known as JAANJ, is bringing a full day of Japanese food and culture to Bergen County. The Japanese Food Festival will take place at the amphitheater area of Overpeck County Park, located along Challenger Road in Ridgefield Park. Admission is free, and the event is open to visitors of all ages.

Food is a major draw of the festival, with vendors serving a variety of authentic Japanese street food, snacks, sweets, and specialty drinks throughout the day. A final vendor lineup has not yet been announced, but according to the event website, vendors that may participate include:

Live Performances + Cultural Activities
The festival will feature live music and a Taiko drumming performance. Taiko is a traditional form of Japanese percussion known for its powerful sound and synchronized movements. Guests can also participate in Bon Odori, a traditional Japanese dance commonly performed during summer festivals. The group dance is designed to bring community members together and can be enjoyed by both experienced dancers and first-time participants.

The event will also include a Yukata contest. Yukata are lightweight traditional garments often worn during Japanese summer celebrations. Festival-goers are welcome to dress up and participate in the contest. Hands-on cultural activities will be available for children and families throughout the day. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and settle in for an afternoon of food, music, and performances in the park.
