Legend has it that every town in the Garden State serves Italian food. This might be a little far-fetched, but there’s some truth to it. Somewhere between the Hudson and the Delaware Rivers, you’re sure to find the best brick oven pizza in the state — but if just not sure where to look, The Bergen County Girl can help with that. Da Mimmo in Dumont serves up some of the best brick oven pizza in NJ. This location is more than just pizza, and also hosts live entertainment, Sunday dinners, Nutella pizza, and hearty entrees. Read on to see what Da Mimmo in Dumont, NJ serves up as a go-to Italian spot.

About Da Mimmo

Da Mimmo opened its doors to the public in November of 2022. This family business is the inspiration of the Gigante brothers, Vincent, Antonio, and Vito. Others may know them as the social media influencers @vincentgigantee, @antoniogigantee, and @vitoandniyah on TikTok. Da Mimmo means “from Mimmo” and pays homage to the brothers’ late great uncle Dominic Rizzi. Rizzi was a talented chef who spent years working at Casa Dante in Jersey City and the Valley Regency in Montclair. Rizzi and the brothers’ father, Vito, dreamed of opening up their own business together but never had the chance. Today, Da Mimmo serves as a way for the family to pay homage to Rizzi and keep his legacy going.

The Eats

Here diners can choose from traditional Neapolitan pizza, antipasti, soup, salad, pasta, and more. The antipasti include Italian classics like fried calamari, meatballs, and the famed burrata caprese. As a right of passage at any Italian restaurant, especially Da Mimmo, BG suggests ordering a plate of that oh-so-crispy fried calamari.

Da Mimmo serves up several pasta dishes like Cacio e Pepe and Penne Alla Vodka — and the freshly-made Caserecce Alla Norma includes homemade fusilli noodles covered with marinara sauce, basil, fried eggplant, pecorino cheese, and fresh ricotta. The Linguine Con Vongole comes with clams and is mixed with garlic, olive oil, white wine, lemon zest, and a dash of parsley.

Da Mimmo’s meat and seafood dishes have classic Italian staples for customers. The chicken dishes include Marsala, Caprese, Francese, and Parmigiana. Steak lovers can dine on the Bistecca Ai Porcini which is served with Porcini mushrooms and a drizzle of truffle oil. For the seafood lovers out there, especially those with a special place in their hearts for calamari, Da Mimmo’s Calamari Al Guazzetto is made up of calamari rings mixed with garlic, onions, and olives in a fish broth. PS: You’re going to want a slice of bread for the finale.

Dessert includes traditional Italian eats like cannolis and tiramisu — and those unfamiliar with the craze of dessert pizzas, like the Nutella pie, are in for a treat. Imagine a regular cheese pie, but swap the marinara sauce for Nutella and replace the cheese with a light dash of powdered sugar.
