Viva Margarita said goodbye to its Cliffside Park location this weekend. The local mini-chain of Mexican eateries, known for its margarita happy hours, colorful decor, and vibrant atmosphere, announced on Instagram that Sunday, August 9th, was its last day open at 790 Anderson Avenue in Cliffside Park. About Viva Margarita
Viva Margarita originally opened at 364 Lawton Avenue in Cliffside Park in November 2016 before relocating to Anderson Avenue in 2020. The restaurant did not give a reason for the closure. This marks the second Viva Margarita location to shutter in recent years. The restaurant announced the closure of its Edgewater location at 163 Old River Road in an Instagram post on October 6th, 2025.

In announcing the Cliffside Park location’s closure, the restaurant shared a heartfelt message on social media thanking customers for their support over the years. “To all of our loyal customers who have supported us over the years—thank you,” the business wrote. “We are truly grateful for the memories, friendships, and incredible support you’ve given us.”
While the Cliffside Park location is now closed, Viva Margarita still has three locations where customers can go for their taco-and-margarita fix, including two in Bergen County. The restaurant’s remaining locations are at 774 Main Street in Hackensack, 413 Paterson Avenue in Wallington, and 2870 NJ-35 in Hazlet. About Viva Margarita
Viva Margarita was founded in 2016 to bring authentic Mexican cuisine to the tri-state area. The menu features shareable appetizers, tacos, enchiladas, burritos, fajitas, and traditional Mexican dishes, with proteins ranging from carne asada and carnitas to birria, shrimp, and fish. The restaurant also offers Mexican desserts, kids’ meals, sides, and catering options for larger gatherings.

The restaurant also has an extensive drink menu, with a focus on margaritas and Mexican-inspired cocktails. Guests can choose from signature margaritas, margarita flights, mojitos, mezcal cocktails, sangria, beer, wine, and tequila and mezcal flights, along with nonalcoholic options like smoothies, horchata, and fresh lemonade. Weekly specials include $6 margaritas all day Monday, half-price tacos all day Tuesday, all-day Happy Hour Wednesday, and $6 mojitos all day Thursday, while weekday Happy Hour runs from 4PM to 8PM with half-price select appetizers and drink specials.
Closures Throughout Bergen County
Viva Margarita’s Cliffside Park location isn’t the first restaurant to close its doors in Bergen County in recent months. Jim Dandy’s, formerly located at 102 Park Avenue in Rutherford, closed on June 28th after 40 years. Rib lovers can still visit its Nutley location at 563 North Franklin Avenue. Village Green Restaurant, a longtime Ridgewood staple formerly located at 36 Prospect Street, closed its doors after 37 years on June 6th. Coach House Diner, a 24-hour dining spot formerly located at 55 Route 4 in Hackensack, closed on April 16th after 40 years, after the property was abruptly sold.
