In December 2025, beloved Ridgewood deli Wilkes Family Delicatessen closed after over 60 years in the city. The Wilkes family then hinted at a new deli, Gino’s Deli, taking over the space in the foreseeable future – and as of late, the deli has celebrated its soft opening. The new spot has revitalized the space while keeping that classic neighborhood deli vibe alive. Read on to learn about Gino’s Deli in Ridgewood.

Gino’s Deli is located at 283 East Glen Avenue in Ridgewood, which is where the historic Wilkes Family Delicatessen once stood. Wilkes Deli was known for its traditions spanning generations and famous potato salad, which has a recipe that is still a secret to this day. The Wilkes family announced Gino’s as its spiritual successor, and the new deli has soft-opened as of the start of July. It has yet to release a full menu, but is receiving praise for its sandwiches (notably the chicken cutlet).
Gino’s Deli’s current hours are Monday to Saturday from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM, and free parking can be found in front of the building. To keep up with the establishment, follow its Instagram at @ginos.deli.
