On Wednesday, June 24th, two earthquakes with magnitudes over 7.0 struck parts of Venezuela. These earthquakes occurred less than a minute apart, destroying buildings, including homes, and leaving many with little to no resources. Many organizations in New Jersey and beyond are offering ways to help those in Venezuela affected by the earthquakes. Read on to find out ways NJ residents can support those in need in Venezuela.

Direct Relief is a non-profit organization that provides humanitarian aid across the world. The organization is dedicated to helping those affected by poverty or emergencies such as natural disasters, like in Venezuela. Currently, Direct Relief volunteers are providing emergency medical supplies commonly requested after earthquakes, including wound care, surgical supplies, antibiotics, and field medic packs to equip first responders and search-and-rescue crews. Since it is a national organization, it is not accepting donations of certain supplies, but New Jersey residents can visit the website to donate money directly to the earthquake response efforts.
