The Jersey Shore is known for a lot of things — from boardwalks and beaches to attractions and breathtaking views. However, one couple from Red Bank chose the Jersey Shore as their dream wedding destination. Cross + Orange, a restaurant in Asbury Park, was converted into a wedding venue for this happy couple to get married after 5 years of dating. Meet Megan + Nick Bricker, a couple who resides in Red Bank, but tied the knot last September down the shore. From meeting at Parker House in Sea Girt, to living as an engaged couple in Belmar, and then tying the knot in Asbury Park, Megan + Nick have a Jersey Shore love story to remember for the rest of their lives. Keep reading for our conversation with this newly-married couple and all about their big day DTS.

AG: How did you decide on a Jersey Shore wedding?

Megan: We were living in Belmar when we got engaged and loved spending time in Asbury Park. We wanted our family and friends to experience the place we love so much.

AG: When and where did you and your partner meet?

Nick: We met through a mutual friend (our officiant) at the Parker House.

AG: Was there an instant connection and chemistry between you two?

M + N: Yes!

Nick: I had my brother convince Meg into throwing me a “surprise” birthday party. I knew she would want all of our family and friends to be there when we got engaged, but had to find a way to keep it a surprise. So, we went with the “double surprise”. I had my brother and Meg create the guest list and did my best to keep everyone in the dark. A majority of the party was as unaware, as Meg was. The engagement took place at Waypoint 622, and then we celebrated at Leggett’s — we were engaged for a year before getting married!

Megan + Nick: We were looking for a laid-back, casual wedding with a huge dance party —  as we had 200 people attend. We decided to convert one of our favorite restaurants, Cross & Orange in Asbury Park, into our dream venue and it fit our vibe perfectly. Bob, Kathy, and Ashley at C+O were amazing and allowed us to personalize every aspect of the day.

AG: What was your favorite moment of the day?

Megan + Nick: We decided to break tradition and meet for coffee in the morning before the craziness began. Seeing each other calmed both of our nerves and set us up for a relaxed and fun day!

AG: Did you work with a wedding planner? If so, who and how was that experience?

Megan: We planned the majority of the wedding on our own, but when the last few months started to creep up, we knew we’d be overwhelmed the day of. I heard about Flutter Social on a podcast and figured I’d give them a shot.  It was one of the best decisions we made. Marcie from FS saved the day when one of our main vendors did not show up. Having a day of coordinator allowed us to truly relax and enjoy every minute.

AG: Tell us all your local vendor favorites.

Megan: Our photographer and videographer were incredible!  It truly felt like we were hanging out with our best friends the whole day, and their work was amazing. I’d recommend either of these two to anyone.

AG: Any advice for couples planning a wedding locally at the shore, or in general?

Megan: Book early! Also, encourage your guests to stay the full weekend. We had the best time with our family and friends exploring Asbury the day after our wedding.

AG: What are you looking forward to most as a married couple? What are your plans?

Megan and Nick: Adopting a Golden Retriever, raising a family, and traveling the world!
