SHO Asian Table, a contemporary Pan-Asian restaurant located at 8 West Front Street in Red Bank, is officially opening on August 12. The multi-level restaurant held a soft opening this week with shareable Asian-inspired dishes, creative cocktails, and a carefully decorated interior. The Local Girl got a sneak peek into this upcoming restaurant ahead of its official opening. Here’s what to know about SHO Asian Table in Red Bank.
The Interior
SHO Asian Table is spread across three floors that each feature hand-painted murals. The first and second floors have multiple bars and dining areas with murals prominent as soon as guests enter the restaurant. The second floor also has a private section with big round tables and built-in lazy susans to have a more intimate dining experience.
There is another private area on the third floor with its own small bar and long table for parties. The room is complete with an eye-catching red light fixture (which sets the perfect date night vibe).
The Menu
The restaurant’s menu is designed to be shared, with staff recommending about two to three plates per person. The menu features small plates such as Sichuan cucumber salad, umami steak tartare, pork belly bao buns, and yuzu lemon pepper ribs. The salad was very light and a great way to start the meal, followed by the bao buns that had a dough that felt like eating soft clouds.
There were also share plates that had some of the favorites of the night. The Bangkok NY Strip Steak was a standout, served medium-rare with a spicy crying tiger sauce and onions.
There is always room for dessert, and the same goes for a night out at SHO Asian Table. The Sticky Fig Pudding, Chef Ryan’s signature dessert, was another favorite, topped with a candied pecan crumble.
For drinks, we were served an espresso martini called the Ca Phe, a twist on the traditional cocktail with salted coconut sweetened condensed milk foam that was delish. The restaurant’s take on a dirty martini, the Blushing Geisha, had very floral notes and flavors that may be best for those who love flowery drinks.
Beyond the food and design, the waitstaff was attentive and gave a great experience. Guests were welcomed with handwritten notes at their tables, while the owner addressed his team and family about the work that went into opening the restaurant. The owner even came to the table and introduced himself, welcoming us into his space.
SHO Asian Table looks poised to be a new option for everything from date nights and drinks at the bar to larger group dinners.
