One of the many things we love about New Jersey is its meaningful family stories, especially the kind that transcend generations. Leonardo Jewelers in Red Bank is exactly that. Located at 73 Broad Street (with an additional location in Metuchen), this family-owned jewelry store is best known for its exceptional craftsmanship, warmth, and dedication to the community. Now, after six decades, the Leonardo Jewelers team is celebrating a new milestone – the grand opening of its new Red Bank showroom on October 16th. Keep reading to learn how the Zeik family turned a small neighborhood shop into one of New Jersey’s most trusted jewelers.
A Family Story That Shines
The story behind Leonardo Jewelers is as timeless as the pieces they create. Leonardo Zeik left Cuba with his wife and four young children in 1961, arriving in Elizabeth NJ with determination and heart. Like many immigrants chasing the American dream, Leonardo took on any work he could find, from washing cars to pumping gas to even working factory shifts before he began selling jewelry door to door.
His early customers were mostly Cuban families rebuilding their lives, and Leonardo was known for his kindness. He extended interest-free credit and became a familiar face in the community. Leonardo treated his customers like family, and from there, he continued to build his name and reputation in the area.
By 1964, Leonardo’s hard work had finally paid off. He opened Joyeria Leonardo, his first store in Elizabeth, which sold everything from jewelry to home appliances, in hopes of helping other immigrant families settle into their lives in the United States. A few years later, Leonardo went to Italy, where he discovered the artistry of Italian goldsmiths and began importing 18k gold jewelry to New Jersey.
Over sixty years later, the Zeik family continues the same legacy that Leonardo built, as his children and grandchildren carry on his vision of welcoming customers with warmth and integrity.
Italian Craftsmanship Meets Jersey Charm
Long before ‘shopping local’ was the thing to do, Leonardo was building relationships within his community. But his love for creating beautiful and memorable jewelry for others is what stands out the most.
The new showroom features a curated collection of fine jewelry, Swiss timepieces, and custom designs, each handcrafted with quality and timelessness. From diamond studs to gold statement pieces, this local jeweler has something for everyone.
Watch collectors will also find an impressive collection of luxury timepieces and an on-site watch service center that meets the high standards of the brands they carry. Each store also has an in-house jewelry studio, which allows clients to custom-design or restore heirloom pieces by an expert jeweler.
With the new showroom in Red Bank, the Zeik family can continue to carry on generations’ worth of artistry and craftsmanship, as well as community and family values.
The new Leonardo Jewelers showroom will be hosting a grand opening event on October 16th from 4PM to 8PM.
