About the Coastal Chateau

In 2024, sisters Alyse and Lexi Scaffidi purchased The Atlantis Inn, a historic bed and breakfast in Ocean City, New Jersey. The sisters have always had a passion for design, storytelling, and creating unforgettable experiences. They saw The Atlantis Inn as a property filled with charm but in need of new life and as a potential vessel for their creative work. With the help of their mom and family members, the sisters transformed it into the Coastal Chateau — a design-forward boutique hotel that provides an elevated shore experience for weekend guests, vacationers, private events, or weddings. The Coastal Chateau honors Ocean City’s rich seaside history, seamlessly blending its historic roots with contemporary elegance.

A Contactless Stay: No Front Desk

The Coastal Chateau provides a modern, hassle-free experience with a contactless check-in system — something the JSG team had never encountered at a hotel before. A property access code is sent to guests via text before their arrival. The code provides entry to the front door of the hotel and the designated guest room. This convenient system is designed to make the stay as easy and seamless as possible. Even though there is no front desk receptionist in the lobby, the Coastal Chateau staff is accessible 24/7 via text, and communication is clear and precise throughout the entire stay. The mobile check-in and staff messaging is super user-friendly and easy to use. No app is needed; the hotel will text you directly and provide hyperlinks with all the information about your reservation and accommodations.

Rooms

The beachside hotel has 12 individually designed and styled guest rooms. Room options include king beds or two queen beds, suites, and pet-friendly villas. Each room features a calming palette of whites, creams, and sandy neutrals, accented by natural textures like rattan, linen, and driftwood-inspired decor. Subtle nods to the sea — like shell details and ocean-inspired prints — tie everything together, perfecting a boho-chic aesthetic.

The JSG team experienced the first-floor “Atlantis” suite, which was equipped with two queen beds, a micro-office space + seating area, HDTV, a mini-fridge, private bathroom with a shower/tub combo, as well as spa amenities like plush white robes and slippers. From full-length mirrors to bedside white noise machines and complimentary water bottles, the Coastal Chateau rooms have everything a guest could need.

Amenities

Attention to detail goes beyond just the decor and furniture at the Coastal Chateau. The staff ensures a comfortable and unforgettable stay by offering carefully considered amenities that anticipate any and every need. The most important amenity — in our opinion — is the complimentary beach tags (also known as beach badges) that come with every Coastal Chateau reservation. Ocean City, New Jersey, requires beachgoers to show a tag to enter the beach from Memorial Day until Labor Day weekend. If a tag is not shown, it costs $10 per person per day to access the beach.

The hotel has an outdoor hose for guests to rinse off beach chairs, bags, toys, and sandy feet before returning to their rooms. The staff encourages all guests to rinse off sand to help keep the chateau clean and ensure a comfortable stay for everyone. “Sandy toes? This way to the hose,” the outdoor signage cutely states. While beach chairs and accessories are not provided by the Coastal Chateau, there is a designated area to store beach supplies outside on the property if guests bring their own.

Mini fridges are available in all rooms, allowing guests to store beverages, snacks, and small food items. The Coastal Chateau villas are equipped with full-size stainless steel refrigerators. The hotel has a complimentary "grab-and-go" breakfast that consists of freshly brewed coffee, an assortment of teas, and granola bars. The hotel lobby has additional seating and a dining area connected to the “grab-and-go” station.

Self-care is non-negotiable while staying at the Coastal Chateau. The bathrooms are stocked up with Salt + Stone toiletries — such as body wash, shampoo, conditioner, and hand soap, NBD) — and soft, Italian linens. Each room is also equipped with a vanity kit, shower cap, branded terrycloth robes, hairdryer with diffuser, steamer, and plush slippers. Post-beach showers hit different here.

All rooms are equipped with TVs featuring streaming capabilities. Complimentary high-speed WiFi is available to all guests on the property, including on the rooftop deck area and the wrap-around front porch.

Rooftop Deck

The iconic rooftop deck is open to all Coastal Chateau guests. It provides breathtaking, panoramic views of the ocean and the ferris wheel and access to high-speed WiFi for those who wish to work outdoors. It is an ideal setting for both relaxation and productivity. The rooftop even hosts yoga classes, concerts, shows, private ceremonies, and weddings.

Pets

The Coastal Chateau’s pet-friendly accommodations are limited to the Ocean Villa, Sunscape Villa, and the Garden Villa — which are all on the ground floor of the property. A pet fee of $35 per night (per pet, maximum two per room) will be charged and includes pet-friendly amenities, such as treats, water bowls and waste disposal bags. All pets must be up-to-date on vaccinations and be free of fleas + ticks. Pets must be well-behaved and non-disruptive to other guests. Excessive barking or aggressive behavior will not be allowed.

The Coastal Chateau is located one block from the Ocean City beach and boardwalk, which is about a five-minute walk. It is also within walking distance of the downtown shopping district, coffee shops, and local restaurants. The hotel is a 27-minute drive to Atlantic City, 33 33-minute drive to Wildwood, and 40 40-minute drive to Cape May.

Parking

Designated off-site parking through the Coastal Chateau is available for $20 a night at the "Charlie Lot" down the street from the hotel. This is the closest lot that allows overnight parking, however, it is about a 7-10 minute walk away. The Charlie Lot has 24/7 in-and-out access and reserved spots for Coastal Chateau guests. All municipal lots and street parking spots in Ocean City are free in the off-season between October 31st and May 1st. Parking meters and fees for surface lots are in effect for the other six months of the year.
