A heat wave is sweeping across New Jersey, with some areas under extreme heat warnings. Even in towns without an official warning, these high temperatures can pose a health risk to people. And while staying on the beach might be relaxing, it does not guarantee safety from these temperatures. To keep safe, New Jersey State Departments have shared resources to know where else to go to keep cool during this time. Keep reading to learn more about cooling locations at the Jersey Shore.
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has shared a tool through its Heat Hub website called “Chill Out NJ” that lists the locations of different places to cool off across the state. The Heat Hub website also shares additional information about weather updates and resources to combat the heat. For the Jersey Shore, many of these cooling centers are libraries, senior centers, and pools. Here is a list of cooling sites in each county. Before visiting one of these sites, it is important to check the opening hours of the location, as they may change.
Atlantic County
