AP Rooftop, a casually elegant bar and eatery with panoramic views of the beach and city of Asbury Park, opens this week on the Asbury Park Boardwalk. AP Rooftop is located at 1200 Ocean Avenue and will be the neighborhood’s new go-to spot for pre-show cocktails, a girl’s night out, or an elevated date night. The bar and restaurant occupies the third floor of the 5th Avenue Pavilion on Ocean Avenue, connected to the Arthur Pryor Bandshell. Read on for more about this new addition to the Asbury Park dining scene.

About the Space

Upon entering, guests are treated to floor-to-ceiling windows that expose sparkling views of the Atlantic Ocean plus an outdoor balcony area that overlooks the boardwalk, the Arthur Pryor Bandshell, and a West view toward the Asbury Ocean Club, Asbury Lanes, and the Asbury Hotel. The space features tables, booths, high-top tables, and bar seating for over 200 guests, plus a lounge area with two cozy fireplaces.

While some come for the views, they all stay for the cocktails. Guests can head up to the rooftop for a drink ahead of a Stone Pony Summer Stage show or drop by for a sunset toast with loved ones. AP Rooftop’s drink menu includes signature cocktails creatively titled, “Livin’ On A Pear,” “Earth, Gin, + Fire,” and “Tropic Like It’s Hot” — just to name a few. The libations menu includes wine, spritzes, low-alcohol cocktails, and mocktail options.

The menu — overseen by executive chef Rob DiBlasi — provides a mix of coastal Mediterranean and Italian-inspired fare including freshly made pizzas, salads, seafood and a selection  of small plates. The JSG team particularly loved the Tuna Crudo with capers, lemon zest, and extra virgin olive oil, The AP Meatball with housemade ricotta and grilled sourdough, and Chicken Milanese with arugula, heirloom cherry tomato bruschetta, shaved parmesan, and aged balsamic. Sandwiches and paninis will be served until 4PM while main dishes are served from 4PM to close.

For those who love live music, make plans to stop by on a Thursday night for a free concert. The Arthur Pryor Bandshell — located next to the AP Rooftop and its outdoor patio and balcony — is the home of the Asbury Park Concert Band. Asbury Park Concert Band conductor John Lukenbill will lead the band every Thursday night during the summer. The free, family-friendly outdoor concerts begin on July 4th, 2024 at 7PM and will run through August 29th.

AP Rooftop joins nearby restaurants Iron Whale, The Robinson Ale House and Tim McLoone’s Supper Club under the McLoone’s Restaurants umbrella in Asbury Park. The McLoone’s Restaurant team envisions the AP Rooftop to be a year-round gathering spot for locals and visitors to enjoy a drink before heading out for the night or to stay for dinner.
