IYKYK: The Jersey Shore doesn’t shut down after the summer. There’s still so much to do after Labor Day, a time we deem “local summer” – it’s possibly the best time for a getaway DTS. And if you need a retreat destination, look no further than Oceana by the Sea, located at 1601 Ocean Avenue in Point Pleasant Beach.

This new boutique hotel is one of our favorites for a weekend getaway at the Jersey Shore, and it’s in a premier vacay location between Point Pleasant and Bay Head. It’s an excellent blend of ‘thought of everything’ hospitality and Jersey Shore authenticity, with local touches galore.  Keep reading to learn more about Oceana by the Sea in Point Pleasant Beach.

The Oceana by the Sea Experience

Oceana by the Sea is a boutique hotel located at 1601 Ocean Avenue in Point Pleasant Beach. It’s something of a coastal retreat, with a super relaxing vibe and a ton of resort-like amenities:

Oceana by the Sea was a joint project founded by the Toth and Stolz families, who brought a shared appreciation of hosting to create a property dedicated to visitor comfort. “Oceana by the Sea offers a fresh take on Jersey Shore hospitality,” the Oceana team shared with The Jersey Shore Girl. The hotel and staff are attentive and truly make each stay special. And, at only 25 rooms, the property feels personal and welcoming.

Guests can enjoy a ton of amenities on site, from bicycles to beach chairs. It makes local exploring even easier (and relaxing). Devin from Team JSG had a chance to visit and loved the experience: the Oceana team was incredibly helpful and made her feel right at home, not to mention there were SO many complimentary features:

  • Mueller’s baked goods + coffee in the morning (see what we mean about local touches?!)
  • Free WiFi + a TV with built-in streaming services
  • An in-house coffee maker, mini-fridge, clothes steamer + hair dryer
  • On-site parking

The rooms are also gorgeous, with various options to pick from. This includes rooms with two doubles, one king-size bed, a king-size + twin sleeper, or The Residence, a two-bedroom retreat (more on that below). The furniture is from Williams Sonoma, and it’s easy to tell how detail-oriented the Oceana team is with decor.

The Residences: What to Expect

We had a chance to stay at The Residence, which has two bedrooms (one with queen bunk beds), a living room, a full-sized kitchen with a dining table + breakfast bar, and two bathrooms, including a king ensuite. It’s a great pick for a family or girls’ getaway, and can sleep up to eight guests.

The design details put into the space by the Oceana team were our favorite part – it was a fun mix of coastal elegance and vacation vibes. The Residence is decorated with cozy coastal blue details, such as light blue velvet dining chairs + decor pillows, and kitchen appliances. The vacation vibes were evident with the Oceana-inscribed backgammon, a beachy-themed giant Scrabble board, Gray Malin coffee table books, and Point Pleasant-themed coasters (love).

Residents can also enjoy some of the hotel’s products, including Beekman 1802 bath products and room sprays sold at the front desk. It all made for a truly relaxing stay – between the amenities and super comfortable bed, the Oceana is truly a “home away from home”.

Our Stay

We stayed at the hotel on Sunday (checked in at 3PM) and took a dip in the pool before heading out to Spano’s for dinner.

Afterwards, we took a beach stroll and enjoyed the summer sunset + breeze at the beach. The hotel supplied us with chairs and their cute embroidered striped towels, and it was so nice to sit back, relax, and watch the water.

The next morning, we enjoyed fresh coffee and blueberry crumb cake from Mueller’s (so delicious!) by the pool, all provided by the hotel for guests to enjoy in the AM. Afterwards, we hung out and relaxed at the pool and enjoyed some of the hotel’s other amenities.

They also have cute navy-and-white-striped beach chairs to bring to the beach, golf carts for rent (which you can drive into town), metallic light blue Oceana plated bikes, and beach badges to Maryland Beach.

Bookings for Local Summer

There’s truly no better time to visit the Jersey Shore, between the amazing weather, admission-free beach visits, and the chance to check out local businesses + shop small (look out for those off-season sales!). Oceana by the Sea is situated right between Point Pleasant and Bay Head, so there’s always a ton to do nearby, from shoreline fun to local entertainment.

FYI: The hotel hosts events as well for its guests and has an ‘OceanaFaves’ book with recommendations for food + things to do from locals and previous guests who’ve stayed at the hotel. We recommend its upcoming live music + wine-tasting pop-up on Friday, September 11th, from 5PM to 7PM (weather permitting), which will feature a performance from Big + Lil. You can book now for this event, which is complimentary with your reservation.
