79-Year-Old Bakery in Seaside Park Reopens Under New Management

Old-school bakeries and restaurants can be found all over the Jersey Shore, and we always love to support them. There’s something special about eating recipes that have been passed down through generations, and that classic dining vibe is always a bonus. Colonial Park Bakery, originally known as Park Bakery, is one of these vintage Jersey Shore fixtures, and it has now reopened as part of an acquisition from Colonial Bakery, based in Sunset Manor. Park Bakery will now operate as Colonial Bakery’s second location, while maintaining the baked goods that made it a local favorite for so many years. What to Know

Park Bakery, which opened in 1947 in Seaside Park, was a beloved spot for classic baked goods for decades. However, it closed in 2025, leading to speculation about what would come to its former space. Rather than being replaced by a new business, Colonial Bakery in Sunset Manor chose to purchase Park Bakery and treat it as a restoration project, turning it into Colonial’s second location.

Now known as Colonial Park Bakery, the business is located at 408 Southeast Central Avenue in Seaside Park and officially opened to the public on Thursday, July 2nd. “Taking over such a beloved neighborhood bakery is a privilege we don’t take lightly, and we’re honored to carry on the tradition of serving fresh, quality baked goods made with care,” the Colonial Park Bakery team shared via Instagram. Visitors can expect to enjoy the same fresh goods the bakery has historically been known for, including coffees, crumb buns, fresh donuts, and bagels.

In addition to Colonial Park Bakery, the business also has a location in Sunset Manor at the corner of 3091 Route 35 North + Joseph Street, known as Colonial North. This location was originally in Lavallette, but pivoted after summer 2024. Both locations are open 7 days a week, and the new Colonial Park location will be open through Labor Day. The re-opening of Park Bakery follows news of other local eateries coming to the area, including Chef Mike’s Legacy and Pelicans Wharf in Seaside Heights.
