The Closure

Exit Zero Filling Station announced its upcoming closure via a Facebook post on Tuesday, September 2nd. The restaurant will officially close on Saturday, September 20th, 2025, and a new Exit Zero retail store will open in 2026, per the post.

“Our 10-year restaurant rollercoaster ride is over. Exit Zero Filling Station will close after service on Saturday, September 20. That gives you less than 3 weeks to come enjoy our best-selling curries and famous Hot Chick sandwich. New hours are Wed-Fri at 4pm, and noon on Saturday (closed Sun-Tue). The EZ building is being sold and we will be moving our Publishing office to a spot on the mall. Look out for a new EZ retail store next year. We stopped selling restaurant-retail gift cards 15 months ago, in anticipation of this day. But even after we close, you can still redeem them for cool merch at our online store exitzero.store. Email [email protected] for details on how to do that. Thanks to everyone who came along for the ride, from our guests to our staff. Lots of magical memories along the way, from sipping margaritas next to the working gas pumps during COVID to the vintage trailers that landed us on national TV. It was fun while it lasted.”

About Exit Zero Filling Station

Exit Zero Filling Station is a Cape May staple for delicious food and cocktails in a unique and relaxed setting. The restaurant is best known for its various curries, the Hot Chick sandwich with buttermilk-sriracha-marinated fried chicken, create-your-own mac and cheese bowls, and more.

To complement the food is a selection of cocktails as well as a milkshake bar — featuring flavors like Peanut Butter Bomb, Unicorn (vanilla ice cream + cake batter), and vegan vanilla, among other options.

The space itself has laid-back vibes with several different seating areas, including a 1949 Chevy farm truck that was converted into a cozy cabin that seats up to eight guests. While Exit Zero dates back to 2003, the current space is a converted gas station complete with the restaurant, a retail store, and offices. The gas pumps were in operation until 2022, when Exit Zero retired from the gas-pumping business to focus on the new outdoor dining space that locals know and love today.
