September is already bringing a fresh batch of businesses to Northern Virginia. From a horror-focused bookstore in Alexandria to a new Italian supper club in Gainesville and a biergarten in Tysons, there are plenty of new spots to add to the list this month. Read on for a roundup of new businesses opening in Northern Virginia in September 2026.
Carbonara | 14081 Promenade Commons Street, Gainesville

Chef Mike Cordero is bringing his Arlington Italian restaurant Carbonara to Gainesville on September 9th. The new 6,300-square-foot restaurant has approximately 240 indoor seats and is designed to feel like an old-school New York Italian supper club. Guests can expect handmade pasta, tableside presentations, cocktails, and live weekend entertainment. The Gainesville location will initially open for dinner, with lunch and an 80-seat patio expected to follow later.
Crispý Cones | 23710 Schooler Plaza, Ashburn

A dessert concept with roots in a European street food tradition is opening its first Northern Virginia location in September. Crispý Cones is scheduled to open in Brambleton on September 18th. The shop specializes in warm dough cones that are cooked rotisserie-style, coated in cinnamon sugar or other toppings, and filled with soft-serve ice cream, spreads, fruit, and additional toppings. The treats are inspired by chimney cakes commonly found in Central Europe.
Fleen’s Dessert Studio | 20937 Ashburn Road, Suite 150, Ashburn
Fleen’s Dessert Studio kicked off its soft opening on September 5th in Old Ashburn and will officially open on September 12th. Owner and pastry chef Kathleen Faliskie has operated Fleen’s as a custom cake and dessert business for years, and the new brick-and-mortar shop gives customers a place to stop in for sweets. The menu includes brownies, blondies, French macarons, cakesicles, dessert charcuterie boxes, and other rotating treats. The studio also plans to host cake decorating workshops and classes.
Long Dark House | 1510 King Street, Alexandria
Alexandria’s bookstore scene got a little spookier on September 1st with the opening of Long Dark House. The independent bookstore specializes in horror, science fiction, thrillers, Southern Gothic stories, and other unconventional reads. Beyond the bookshelves, Long Dark House is designed as a community gathering space with book clubs, author events, workshops, tabletop gaming, and other literary programming. The shop shares its King Street space with Madame Coco’s Emporium, which has chocolates, gifts, and other goods.
Open Road Outpost + Biergarten | 8354 Broad Street, Tysons
A new version of a familiar Northern Virginia restaurant made its debut at The Boro on September 8th. Open Road Outpost + Biergarten took over the former Él Bebe space and combines Open Road’s American bar food with an outdoor biergarten. The approximately 5,000-square-foot restaurant serves dishes like burgers, pizzas, and fajitas alongside craft beers and cocktails. Football specials, live music, and dog-friendly Yappy Hours are also planned for the fall.
Sintara Thai Wellness | 3145 Mount Vernon Avenue, Alexandria
Sintara Thai Wellness celebrated the grand opening of its Alexandria location on September 1st. The appointment-based wellness studio combines traditional Thai wellness practices with a contemporary spa setting. Services include therapeutic massage, Hydrafacial treatments, customized facials, Thai reflexology, hot stone treatments, and more. Sintara’s team has more than a decade of experience serving Northern Virginia through an existing Vienna location.
Solace Outpost | 4201 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington
Solace Outpost is expected to open at 4201 Wilson Boulevard, expanding the locally based Solace Brewing Company brand. The Outpost concept combines craft beer, food, and a sports-friendly atmosphere, making it one to watch as football season gets underway. An exact opening date has not yet been announced.
