Northern Virginia Haunted Houses + Spooky Attractions to Visit in 2026

Eleven months out of the year, the scariest things you’ll find in Northern Virginia are the dynamic tolls on I-66, Maryland drivers, and spotted lanternflies. But, during October, things get really spooky around here, with a proliferation of haunted houses, spooky corn mazes, and other frighteningly fun attractions. We’ve rounded up all the haunted spots in Northern Virginia (and a little beyond) so you can get the most out of spooky season. Alexandria’s centuries of history provide plenty of material for a spooky night out. Alexandria Ghosts hosts nightly walking tours through Old Town, plus a 21+ haunted pub crawl that pairs ghost stories and local history with stops at neighborhood bars; walking tours meet at 301 King Street, while the pub crawl begins at 138 N. Royal Street.

Buckland Haunted Farm returns every Friday and Saturday night in October from 7PM to 11PM. Visitors can make their way through a half-mile haunted trail in the corn and take on an inflatable maze filled with dark corners, dead ends, and unexpected scares.

Clifton Haunted Trail | 12800 Chapel Street, Clifton

The Clifton Haunted Trail returns on Saturday, October 24th, from 7PM to 10PM for one spooky night in historic Clifton. The annual outdoor attraction takes guests along a dark trail filled with costumed characters, eerie scenes, and plenty of surprises along the way.

Chantilly High School Haunted House | Chantilly High School, 4201 Stringfellow Road, Chantilly

Chantilly High School’s annual haunted house takes place on Saturday, October 24th, with different experiences depending on just how spooky visitors want the day to be. A less-scary version runs from 1PM to 5PM, followed by a scarier evening session from 6PM to 10PM, plus games, face painting, arts + crafts, and a family-friendly hypnotist.

Cox Farms’ Fields of Fear | 15621 Braddock Road, Centreville

More than 20 acres of nighttime scares await at Cox Farms’ Fields of Fear, which runs on Friday and Saturday nights through November 7th, plus Sunday, October 11th. Attractions include the Cornightmare, Dark Side Hayride, The Forest, and the Firegrounds, where visitors can recover from all the screaming.

DarkWood Manor transforms its elaborate sets into a new immersive horror story each fall, complete with live actors, detailed scenery, and theatrical effects. The attraction runs on select nights throughout October, with October 4th designated as a No Scare Night and a special Blackout Night taking place on November 1st.

Haunted Hollow at Maple Tree Farm | 8275 Maple Tree Lane, Warrenton

Maple Tree Farm takes on a much darker personality after sunset when Haunted Hollow opens for select October nights. The nearly mile-long outdoor trail winds through and around the farm’s barns, with live scares, eerie scenes, and uneven terrain adding to the experience.

Haunted Nightmares | 933 Barley Lane, Winchester

Haunted Nightmares returns to Winchester from late September through October 31st with an indoor haunted attraction featuring live performers, theatrical lighting, special effects, and elaborate sets. Visitors looking for something a little less intense can also check out the property’s escape rooms, corn maze, and moonlit hayrides.

Milltown Haunt | 13936 Milltown Road, Lovettsville

The Milltown Haunt brings three haunted attractions to Loudoun County from October 2nd through November 7th on select Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. Visitors can also hang out at the Farm Midway, which features food trucks, fire pits, drinks, photo opportunities, and other activities before or after the scares.

The Workhouse Arts Center’s annual haunted trail returns from October 3rd through October 30th on Fridays, Saturdays, and select Sundays. The 2026 theme, Dark Encounters, follows the mysterious disappearance of five friends in 1996 as visitors make their way through an immersive outdoor trail filled with actors, eerie environments, and unsettling discoveries.
