Alpine Named the Most Expensive Zip Code in New Jersey

A Bergen County town was recently named as the most expensive zip code in the Garden State. Alpine, New Jersey is located right on the Hudson River in the southeast portion of Bergen County, and is known to be the home of several celebrities and professional athletes. PropertyShark recently released its annual “100 Most Expensive Zip Codes in the U.S.” report, with Alpine’s zip code of 07620 ranking as number one in all of New Jersey, among five other Garden State towns that made the list. The Ranking

PropertyShark’s “100 Most Expensive Zip Codes in the U.S. report is “the only ranking of the country’s most expensive real estate based on actual closed-sale data, not sellers’ listing ambitions,” per a press release. The 10th edition of this annual ranking included a total of six New Jersey zip codes, with Alpine’s zip code of 07620 coming in as the most expensive in our state. Nationally, it ranked as number 13 with a median sales price of $4,350,000 as of 2025.

Alpine is the first New Jersey zip code to surpass over a four million median sales price, and this year’s price sets a new record for the state. This is the ninth time in the past ten years that Alpine has been ranked the most expensive zip code.

Other New Jersey zip codes in the ranking include Deal ($3,550,000 median sales price), Stone Harbor ($2,550,000 median sales price), Short Hills ($2,415,000 median sales price), Avalon ($2,360,000 median sales price), and Allenhurst ($2,150,000 median sales price).

Alpine is located in southeastern Bergen County, situated right along the Hudson River under Palisades Interstate Park. With its gorgeous views of the Hudson and prime location close to New York City, the town has attracted many high-profile locals over the years and is known for its privacy. Alpine is on the smaller side of Garden State towns, coming in at just over nine square miles, and has a population of about 1,800 as of 2024.

New Jersey Monthly has previously refered to Alpine as the “Beverly Hills of New Jersey,” with a long list of musicians, actors, professional athletes, political figures, and more calling the town home.
