Schooley\u2019s Mountain Store, which has stood in Long Valley for more than 200 years, is the oldest<a href=\"https:\/\/www.themontclairgirl.com\/acorn-general-store-montclair-nj\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> general store<\/a> in New Jersey. Now, after closing nearly a year ago, the historic NJ shop will reopen this summer under new ownership. It is also home to one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/thelocalgirl.com\/lifestyle\/new-jersey-oldest-businesses-restaurants\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">oldest<\/a> and continuously running post offices in the country and has hosted visits from late U.S. presidents, including William Henry Harrison, Ulysses S. Grant, and Franklin D. They also own the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themontclairgirl.com\/new-jersey-candy-shops-old-school\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sweets<\/a> company, Schooley\u2019s Mountain Confection Co., and aim to revitalize The General Store space while honoring its rich history and place in the community.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt\u2019s a pretty heavy responsibility, and we\u2019re excited about it,\u201d Mark told <\/span><em><a href=\"https:\/\/patch.com\/new-jersey\/longvalley\/iconic-over-200-year-old-nj-general-store-reopen-under-new-owners\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Patch<\/span><\/a><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u201cIt\u2019s a heavy one because that store means so much to so many people and has meant so much for many generations.
