After giving birth to her and Julio\u2019s son, Logan, in October 2025, she knew she wanted something that would allow her more time to spend with him. \u201cRestaurant hours are really long, you\u2019re there till 10PM or 11PM,\u201d she said. \u201cWe thought we would take our knowledge of the industry and move to breakfast and lunch service.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" style=\"background: #FFF; font-weight: normal; line-height: 17px; text-decoration: none;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DVzDMDEjhSd\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A post shared by Bagel Street 523 (@bagelstreet523)<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async=\"\" src=\"\/\/www.instagram.com\/embed.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once Jenny and Julio settled on the breakfast concept, she got to work learning how to make bagels. \u201cI took so many classes, we went to New York City for a class, plus a ton of stuff online,\u201d she said. \u201cIt was so, so much trial and error,\u201d she said, laughing. \u201cBut I had to get it perfect.\u201d The bagels are hand-rolled<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jenny and Julio found the space in Vienna and hosted the soft opening of<a href=\"https:\/\/bagelstreet523.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Bagel Street Cafe<\/a> on Friday, March 27th. The hours will be from 8AM till sell out as the team finds its footing.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>What to Expect<\/h3>\n<p>Jenny is Chinese-American and Julio is Dominican. She said that the menu will \u2018speak about who we are,\u2019 incorporating different flavor profiles. \u201cThe Chinese flavors include seaweed, miso, and Chinese sausage,\u201d Jenny said. \u201cAnd the Dominican flavors include things like fried cheese and Dominican salami.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All the bagels and cream cheese will be made in-house. The bagel flavors will be plain, sesame, poppy, everything, blueberry, Za\u2019atar, cinnamon sugar, rosemary sea salt, Sichuan Peppercorn, and salt. <\/span>For Jenny, the bagels and cream cheese flavors are opportunities to try out familiar flavors in new ways. \u201cI really want to work on a sweet plantain bagel,\u201d she said. \u201cOne of the cream cheeses has koshu, which has a spicy, citrusy flavor.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The bagels are also the vehicles for the sandwiches served at Bagel Street. Some of the more unusual menu items include the Sichuan Street breakfast sandwich, which is a Sichuan bagel with Chinese sausage, American cheese, scallion cream cheese, egg, and hot honey. For lunch, we\u2019re excited to try the Green Garden, which is a za\u2019atar bagel with hummus, avocado, lettuce, cucumber salad, and vinaigrette.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The cafe will have a full coffee bar plus a beverage cooler &#8211; excellent for those grab-and-go mornings.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Bagel Street Cafe is open at 523 Maple Avenue W. in Vienna. The hours are 6:30AM to 3PM, Tuesday through Saturday.
