Because of this, Casey felt comfortable knowing the next steps and what to expect.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After the office visit, she brought Casey to an ultrasound room, where they performed the ultrasound, and Dr. Gupta shared her insights on what she saw (3D images were, in fact, available).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She then met with <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.englewoodhealth.org\/providers\/tamar-h-goldwaser\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dr. Goldwaser<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a geneticist, and had an informative conversation. The doctor explained that she recommends genetic testing (carrier screening) before having kids, since it&#8217;s so important to know all genetic information.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.englewoodhealth.org\/providers\/tamar-h-goldwaser\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dr. Goldwaser<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> made the science behind everything approachable and easy to understand. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.englewoodhealth.org\/providers\/tamar-h-goldwaser\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dr. Goldwaser<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> expressed a passion for everyone being their own medical advocate \u2014 she recommends doing as much screening as possible during the pregnancy journey.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Casey learned that just a few years ago, it was standard to test for only three genetic conditions, but now it&#8217;s standard to test for over 300.
